Prep report: Poor shooting trips up Golden Bears

A poor shooting performance from the field led to a 40-31 loss Tuesday at New Palestine for Shelbyville.
The Golden Bears (2-6, 0-2 Hoosier Heritage Conference) shot 26 percent from the field, including 16 percent from the three-point line.
Shelbyville led 7-6 at the end of the first quarter but was outscored 26-16 over the next 16 minutes.
Gia Nitschke led the Dragons (4-3, 2-0 HHC) with nine points while Emma Laughlin and Haley Stratman each had eight.
Riley Achenbach finished with a game-high 15 points to lead Shelbyville. Morgan Parker had six.
New Palestine won the junior varsity game 24-22.
