Matadores Continue String of Success
Despite competing in their 3rd race in 6 days, the La Mirada Cross Country teams showed fire in their running. The Varsity girls, led by Seniors Audrey Serrata (21:37) and Vanessa Thomas (21:38), cruised to victory over La Habra and California. The Lady Matadores scored an outstanding 16 points after placing their top 5 runners in the first six spots.
Sophomore Nathaniel Moore ran a brilliant race to take the top spot in the Varsity Boys race. The Matadores, despite placing their top 3 runners in the first five spots (Sophomores Jared Bird, 4th place, and Daniel Lee, 5th place), could not overcome the depth of a tight La Habra team and were defeated by a mere four points. La Mirada scored 36 points to California's 53 to come out 1-1 for the day.
In JV action, Sophomore Freddy Ramirez placed 2nd, while Junior Max Garnica and Freshman Ryan Holash placed 4th and 5th to earn Varsity uniforms. They lead their team to victory over California.
