Pacers Split

Posted by Chris Cloutier on Sep 20 2004 at 05:00PM PDT
The Bedford Pacers split their last two games, beating Ipswich 4-2 before dropping a surreal 4-3 decision to Billerica. In the Ipswich game, Paul Cleary was the star by potting a goal and dishing out three assists. After Leo the White-Cleated Lion got Ipswich on the board, Cleary setup Jeff Guild then Scott Sharby with nifty passes to give Bedford the lead. Just before halftime, Cleary took a Jeff Bailey flick and slammed home one of his own to give Bedford the 3-1 halftime cushion. Ipswich would close to 3-2 before Sharby's second late in the match gave Bedford the insurance they needed for the win. The Billerica match would start the same as Bedford's first match of the year against Marblehead...without enough players. Billerica would take advantage by going ahead 2-0 before the full Pacers squad hit the pitch. Deco would make it 2-1 at the half by heading home Sharby's long cross. Billerica would go up 3-1 when after a violent collision between Sweeper Dale Dubois and Keeper Chris Cloutier left Dale bloodied and down...and ball trickling into the open net. Billerica made it 4-1 before Bedford came storming back with two goals by Deco. Bedford had some solid chances to level it before time ran out. Bedford now stands at 1-2 on the season.
