5/13/01 Bicknell's Bicycle Beats the Peobody Spartans 1-0

Posted by Dale Dubois on May 13 2001 at 05:00PM PDT
A "Goal of the Year" nomination goes to Steve Bicknell for his bicycle kick goal that put the Pacers up 1-0 against the Peobody Spartans this past Sunday. The goal would be all that the Pacers would need to continue their unbeaten streak to four games. The bicycle kick came in the first half after the Spartan keeper bobbled a free kick from Dale Dubois from midfield. The ball fell to the left side of the net an in front of Steve with his back to the net. The bicycle kick finish left even the Peobody players applauding. The start of the second half was a bit rough as Scott Sharby felt the urge to kick the legs of the Spartan midfielder. Scott was awarded a Red card and the Pacers would finish the game with ten men. Controlled play and maintaining possession of the ball was the key to holding the Spartans scoreless for the remainder of the game. This Sunday will be a Home game against the Windham team at Sportsmans. This may determine who moves to division 2 so come to play... Game starts at 9 AM.....
