Laberge Hat Trick Leads Pacers to a 5-2 win over Marblehead

Posted by Dale Dubois on Oct 10 2004 at 05:00PM PDT
Chris Laberge's hat trick lead an abbreviated Pacer's squad over Marblehead, 5-2 in yesterdays Match. The Pacers would play the second match of this first home double header for the DEA Masters and the Pacers. However, at game time the pacers had Nine players with no keeper. Chris Florek would volunteer to play keeper sweeper. The Pacers would play very smart and actually control the play short by two. Chris Florek playing out in the sweeper position played outstanding, taking Marblehead out of their game. Florek had to be reminded that he could use his hands as a bonus... Jon Cloutier and Jeff Bailey would show up to bring the squads even. A welcome sight for the Pacers as Bailey would send Chris Laberge in for his first of three Goals on the day. Scott Sharby would follow up with a nice header off a Jon Cloutier cross and the Pacers were comfortably up by two. Marblehead would get one back as Florek got a paw on it but it deflected in. The Pacers, Laberge, very comfortable at the striker position, would score another before the half on an identical run to the right touch line and beat the keeper short side. The Pacers were confident in the second half to play the same game that got them to the 3-1 mark. Chris Laberge would score another short side on a nice feed from Bailey, who had 3 assists on the day. Marble head would claw back and score one on a defensive miscue. Again, Florek would get a piece of the ball but not enough. DEA continued to play well and would shut the door as Sharby would score his second tally off a beautiful cross from Jeff Guild. The Pacers really needed this win to get them out of the cellar. Everyone had a great game. Chris Laberge and Scott Sharby's fire power up front, Bailey controlling the middle and solid defense from Paul Cote, Dale Dubois and Jon Cloutier and a Great debut performance from Chris Florek in net and all over the backfield. The team is still struggling to get numbers to each game however. Next Sundays game is in Ipswich. A must win against this faltering team. Game time is at 8:30 AM... Please do your best to make the game. .............GREAT WIN PACERS.............
