9/24/00 Pacers Fall to Danvers 3-2

Posted by Dale Dubois on Oct 02 2000 at 12:16AM PDT
The Danvers Internationals posted a disappointing 3-2 win over the NH Pacers on Sunday. The Pacers controlled most of the game, however, defensive mistakes once again cost the game. The Pacers scored first about midway through the first half as Scott Sharby took a breakaway down the center of the field and nutmeged the keeper. The Internationals tied the score at the end of the first half on a miss played ball in the Pacers backfield. The Pacers scored first again in the second half as Bertie O'Gorman tucked home a rebound off the keeper from a stinging shot taken by John Guild. About midway through the second half the International stopper tried to rape Scott Sharby from behind, to which Scott took exception. A scuffle broke out which resulted in a red, and two yellow cards for Danvers. Hats off to Scott for showing surprising control throughout the ordeal. Following this skirmish, the Pacers midfield and defense did little more than watch as the Danvers midfielder sprinted toward the net with the ball and tied the score; next time stay on your feet Dale. The Danvers Internationals would score one more time with only 5 minutes remaining to take the game and 3 points away. The Pacers go home to face the less than sporting Peobody Club this Sunday... There will be Practice (possibly a game) on Friday for the Pacers....5 PM +/- at Sportsmans Field in Bedford.
