Rosanne has been involved in girls softball in Sonoma County since 1985
after being an avid player most of her life including playing college ball at
Nassau College, in New York.
She began coaching her daughter, Kelly, in the Petaluma Girls Softball
Association (PGSA). She served on the Board of Directors for PGSA for almost ten
years - in various roles, and as president for many years.
During this time she contributed to the start of the Breeze organization
initially for 14U & 16U teams bringing Junior Olympic travel softball to the
Petaluma area. She also helped to found the 12U Stealers program. These teams
later merged creating the current Steal Breeze organization.
Rosanne also worked with the
Rohnert Park Girls Softball Association directors to change their recreation
program from slow pitch to fast pitch; today, RPGSA produces many outstanding
softball players.
She migrated to the Haze with coach Nick Houtz as part of his staff, and
then in 1995 helped create and run the North Bay Renegades program, where she
has served as both a coach and manager through today.
Softball has been a family
affair for the Maces, and Rosanne’s daughter, Kelly, carries on her mother’s
love of the game. Kelly played for Coach Nick until the late ‘90’s
when she moved on to the University of Northern Colorado as a pitcher.
Throughout obtaining a degree in psychology and pursuing her Masters
degree in School Counseling, Kelly has continued to work as a player
representative, helping Renegades team-members pursue their college
dreams.
Rosanne is excited for the
ongoing opportunity to make an impact on the lives of young girls through the
transformative power of Softball.
