MCNICHOLAS DELIEVERS KEY PITCHING PERFORMANCE
HAWKS DOWN FARMINGTON 8-1
With senior pitching ace Sam Bonifant a question mark for the Hawks, Liam McNicholas was called upon to pitch his first varsity start. The sophomore delievered turning in a gem facing 20 Farmington batters allowing only 1 hit (a homerun in the 4th) while striking out 3. McNicholas got tired in the top of the 6th walking 3 of the 4 hitters he faced but got a double play ball and finished his outing pitching 5 2/3 innings. Bonifant did come in to relieve McNicholas and struck out 3 of the 5 batters he faced.
On the offensive end, Colin O'Keeffe collected 3 hits while knocking in 2 rbi's. McNicholas and Bonifant also had 2 hits each. The Hawks led 3-1 going into the bottom of the 4th when Auger hit a ball into left for a single and Jake Nelson got on base by a droped pop up. Senior Matt Gleason was asked to bunt and got down a perfect ball to advance both runners in front of O'Keeffe's 1 out 2 rbi single that helped seal the win. Hawks play Tuesday home vs Newport at NOON.
