Basketball Bandits Complete Outstanding 2001 Season

Posted by Jim Butler on Feb 27 2001 at 04:00PM PST
After winning their opener and then losing some tough games in a four game losing streak, the Basketball Bandits finished the regular season in the Yorktown Division as the hottest team in the division by winning their last five games. According to one of the other coaches in the division, the Bandits were playing the best ball in the division at the end of the season. Their 6-4 regular season record was good enough for a 4th place finish for the regular season. This was an outstanding accomplishment given that the Bandits were a 4th grade team playing in a division with five 5th grade teams and two other 4th grade teams. The Bandits received the #2 seed in the post season tournament and won their first game against a team moving up from the Wakefield Division. In the semi-finals, the Bandits were overwhelmed by a former division one team. Despite the tough finish, this takes nothing away from an outstanding season by the Basketball Bandits.
