LA COSTA CANYON HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

Game #1 – The Mavs pitching, fielding and hitting all came together in the first game for an 8-0 win. Tyler Wells pitched a complete game shutout, striking out 5 and giving up only 3 hits. The offense was led by Grant Allgire (3 RBIs), Chris Brookey (2 for 3 with a 3B, 1 RBI) and Jimmy Pierce (2 for 3, with a 3B, HR, 2 RBIs) with a solo home run clearing the trees in left. Michael Oman and Michael Cruz rounded out the Mavs offense with RBI singles.

Tyler Wells threw a complete game allowing only 4 hits and striking out 7. Graham Nancarrow and Jimmy Pierce went 2-3.

The Mavs scored two runs in the first. Michael Oman homered in the second inning to give the Mavs a 3-0 lead. Valhalla took the lead in the fourth. Grant Allgire hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh. Records: La Costa Canyon 9-5. Game #2 - The second game went 9 innings with the Titans edging out the Mavs 2-1. Chris Brookey pitched 5 innings allowing 4 hits with 1 earned run, and Tyler Korn pitched 4 innings in relief allowing only 2 hits and 1 earned run. The Mavs scored their only run in the 4th when Cole Ducey hit a double followed by Rusty Leedy‘s RBI single. Michael Cruz went 2 for 3 to lead the offense with the Mavs getting a total of 8 hits. Graham Nancarrow caught all 16 innings and had an excellent defensive day behind the plate. The Titans scored both their runs on solo home runs. The Mavs play Mt. In the first inning Rusty Leedy singled, Grant Allgire tipled him home and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Cole Ducey. Allgire went 3 for 4 with a single, double and a triple. The Mavericks loaded the bases four times but could not score again. Chris Brookey had a solid pitching outing, with error free defense behind him and with relief appearances from T Perreira and Tyler Korn. Korn set a new school record with his 5th Save of the year.
