Mavericks Slay The Grizzlies 19 - 2

Posted by Neil Miller on Apr 13 2010 at 05:00PM PDT

After six days off, the Mavericks returned to play for their first official league game of the 2010 season.  Opening against the Grizzlies from Mission Hills the Mavericks looked a bit tentative to start the game.  After two innings of play the Mavericks clung to a 3-2 lead.  From that point on it was all LCC as the Mavericks began pouring it on.  They scored in every inning - with 6 big runs in the 4th.  The Mavericks went on to win by a final score of 19-2.

Chad Theriault started the game and got the win.  Keats Ewing pitched 2 innings of relief, followed by Drew Addy for 2, and Kyle Morris closed it in the bottom of the 7th.

Carter Johnson was the RBI king for the day with 4.  Miller and Winters both had big days at the plate with 3 hits each.  Other hitters for the day included Curtis, Davern, Groseclose, Johnson, Marinos, Smith, and Solomon.

La Costa's defense was solid, with no errors for the entire game.

The Mavericks are now 17-2 for the season, and 1-0 in league play.
