LA COSTA CANYON HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

The Mavericks used three double plays and some great pitching to defeat Calvary Chapel of Santa Ana 6-1. Wes Schiller pitched five strong innings to get the win for the Mavericks. Travis Goldbach pitched two innings of relief to preserve the win. Again the solid defense was the key as the Mavericks rolled three double plays erasing possible big innings. The Mavericks used some clutch hits to manufacture the 6 runs. The win moves the Mavericks to 3-0 for the tournament and 15-1 on the season. With the win the Mavericks are guaranteed a spot in the semi-finals Thursday at Southwestern JC at 10:00 against Rancho Bernardo. The other semi-final game is between Poway and Montgomery.
