Mavericks Whip Fallbrook 14-3

Posted by Neil Miller on May 04 2010 at 05:00PM PDT

Playing on a beautiful field on a perfect afternoon, La Costa faced the Warriors of Fallbrook in Game 1 of a three-game series.  Both teams drew blanks in the first inning, but La Costa seized the lead in the second with three runs, two of which came off a homerun bomb to centerfield by Shayne Davern.  In the third inning LCC scored two more off a 600 foot shot (300 high, 300 long) by Colin Winters.  Failing to give up, the Warriors posted two runs in the bottom of the third.  With the score now closing at 5-2, the Mavericks got serious and scored 7 big runs in a bat-around frenzy.  The Mavericks then cruised on to win the game by a final score of 14-3.

LCC hitters included Casinelli, Davern, Winters, Smith, Allmaras, Miller, Marinos, and Johnson.

Brody Curtis started the game on the mound and got the win, pitching three innings.  Theriault provided three strong innings of relief and Addy closed the 7th.

The Mavericks moved to 9-0 in league play and 25-2 for the season.
