Mavs Beat Patriots In Opener

The Mavs kicked of the 2005 season with a 5-2 victory over the visiting Orange Glen Patriots. Behind a solid pitching performance by Kyle Anderson and Tyler wells the Mavericks started the Falcon/Pirate Tournament on a good note. Anderson pitched five innings allowing 2 runs, one earned, four hits, 2 walks, and 2 k's. He was followed by Tyler Wells who pitched two innings in relief to earn his first varsity save. Offensively the Mavericks were led by senior Brett St. Amour (2-3, 2 rbi's, r) and junior Cole Duccey (2-3, 1B, 3B, rbi). The Mavericks continue Falcon/Pirate play on Friday at home against Pt. Loma. They also play Saturday morning at University City 10:30.
