Paul Jacinto (1998) - Is a senior pitcher for BYU,(12-28,12-12). Last year in 2003 Paul Jacinto was 10-5, with a 4.14 ERA and he was named the Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Year. In 2004 Paul was named to the All Mountain West Conference Team. With 14 starts and a total of 21 appearances, Paul has pitched the second most innings(94) on the team. Paul at 3-9, and 3 saves, with a 5.55 ERA, 70 K's and only 21 BB, has not been very lucky. On April 15th Paul earned his first win of the year in his first relief appearance; he pitched the last 5 and two thirds innings of an 11th inning 7-6 win over San Diego State, striking out 4 and allowing 1 run on 6 hits. On April 2nd, Paul pitched a complete game, 7 hitter, allowing 1 solo HR in a 0-1 loss to New Mexico. Head Coach Vince Law, "Paul pitched a splendid game, one of the best games he's pitched at BYU." In March Paul pitched 7 inn. against Fresno State, allowing only 3 earned runs, 2 K's and 3 BB's but got a no decision. On Mar. 27th against Utah, Paul took a 4-2 lead into the 9th and was relieved after yielding a lead off single, and again after allowing only 3 earned runs, 3 K's and 1 BB, got a no decision. On the last weekend of the regular season on May 20 Paul got his 3rd win, pitching 6 shut out innings against Air Force, and then came back a day later to pitch a scoreless 9th inning for his 3rd save of the year in a 10-9 win. Paul pitched two scoreless innings in the MWC Tournament. Blake Read (2000) - Is a Senior relief pitcher for the University of California Bears(25-31, 9-15) and recently earned his first win of the year by pitching two innings in relief against #5 ranked Arizona State. On May 13th Blake pitched 1 and one-third innings, giving up 2 runs in a 7-4 loss to USD in San Diego. Blake appeared in 20 games, a total of 24.0 innings, and an ERA of 6.00, a record of 2 wins and no losses, with 16 K's and 7 BB's. Paul Oseguera (2002) - Is still on scholarship at UCLA undergoing rehab after a second minor surgery on his pitching elbow and in May finally started throwing off a mound. Casey Sterk (2002) - Started all 50 games in left field field for the Wake Forest Deacons(17-33,4-20) of the ACC, and had one hit and one rbi in the 12-15 loss to Maryland in the first round of the ACC Tournament. Wake Forest was 13-10 at home but only 2-19 on the road. After 50 games and 168 at bats Casey finished with a batting average of .256 with 4 home runs, 2 triples, 6 doubles, 28 runs batted in, 34 runs scored, 15 base on balls, 87 put outs, 2 assists in the outfield, and he stole 5 bases in 5 attempts. On April 15th he helped the Deacons to a 4-1 over the #24 ranked North Carolina State with one solo home run and a walk. In a 10-11 loss to Florida State Casey was 1 for 4 and scored 2 runs. Matt Ryan (2002) - Is a redshirt freshmen at Sonoma State, recently got his first at bat against San Francisco State and made the trip down to play University of California San Diego. Sonoma State (39-28, 25-15) entered the CCAA Tournament as the No. 1 seed but lost to Chico State in the Tournament Championship game. Sonoma State and Chico State both advanced to the Western Regional Tournament in Pueblo Colorado where once again Sonoma was eliminated by Chico State in the final game. Chico State advanced to the NCAA Division Two College World Series Tournament in Montgomery, Alabama but they were eliminated in two games. Will Stoffel (2002)- Is a redshirt freshmen at Santa Barbara City College(19-16,11-14), where he is a reserve outfielder, started two games, and in 10 games he batted .154 with 2 doubles and 2 rbis's. Although still rehabing his pitching shoulder after last year's shoulder surgery, Will made his first relief appearance in April, pitching to 2 batters and giving up 1 hit. Santa Barbara won ten more games in 2004 then they did in 2003. Joey Burke (2003) - Is the starting 2nd basemen at Palomar Community College(21-14,12-10). On Sat. Feb 28th Joey went 4 for 4, with 2 doubles, 2 walks, one rbi and three runs scored. Joey unfortunately broke his right thumb fielding a ground ball but after having spent a couple of weeks in a cast he rejoined the team before the end of April in time to help spark a run towards the second place playoff spot. In 25 games Joey is batting .300 with 20 runs scored, 8 rbi's, 15 BB's and 4 SB's. Palomar made the State Playoffs as the second place team out of their league but lost in the first round 8-7 to 5th ranked El Camino JC. Drew Logan (2003) - Is pitching at Palomar(21-14,12-10). Drew has appeared in 7 games, has 1 start, a 1-0 record, and in 19.1 innings has struck out 5 and walked only 3, with an ERA of 4.66. Palomar lost in the first round of the State Playoffs to El Camino JC 8-7. Andrew Nacario (2003) - Split time in the Outfield at Dartmouth College (25-17, 15-7)in New Hampshire which made the Ivy League Championship series against Princeton but lost in extra innings. During an early 11 game trip to Florida, Andrew had 1 hit against Iowa, 2 hits and a run scored against the University of Florida and 2 rbi's against Northwestern. Andrew recently went 1 for 4 in a win against Cornell with 1 run scored and 1 rbi. Andrew started 15, and played in 29 of their 42 games. He finished the year hitting .258, in 62 at bats, with 15 runs scored, 9 rbi's, 1 2b, 1 3b, 9 BB, 3 HBP, 10 SO and he was successfull in 1 of 3 attempts to steal a base. image
