Nats take two of first three on Northern Trip
The West Allis Nationals rebounded from a tough 5-3 loss to the Menasha Macs on Friday with wins Saturday against the Marinette Redbirds (4-1) and Menominee Storm (8-1)
The difference versus the Macs was a fifth inning grand slam that put the Macs ahead and they never relinquished the lead.
Game one on Saturday was tight until Nick Lingvay delivered a two run single to close out a 3 run sixth inning. Starter Jimmy Jungbauer kept the Redbirds at bay in a complete game performance, allowing no earned runs while striking out 8.
The Natties put game two away early, scoring 7 runs in the first two innings against Menominee. Brian Huntzinger led the offense with three hits, including a home run and knocked in two. Matt Richer added two knocks and two runs.
The Nationals close out the weekend versus the Marinette Redbirds at noon on Sunday.
Nationals Win Season Opener
Curt Pryal homered and threw six shutout innings to earn the win as the West Allis Nationals opened the 2015 season with a 5-1 win over the two-time defending Land-O-Lakes Grand Champion Pewaukee Muskies.
The game was the first in the inaugural season of the Langsdorf Night League. Also competing will be the Kenosha Kings, Sheboygan A's, and West Bend 7 Up.
