Nats fall to White Sox in Langsdorf League Opener

Posted by Steve Elliott on May 25 2010 at 05:00PM PDT in 2019 Season

The Nats fell short in a closely contested game Tuesday night against the White Sox, falling 4-3.

The locals took a 1-0 lead in the third on an RBI double by Brandon Hall, but gave it back in the fourth allowing an unearned run to score and knot the game.

CJ Herrforth was strong in his season debut, going the first four innings and allowing only 2 hits while striking out 8.

Mitch Lochen made his Nationals debut in the 5th, taking over for Herrforth.   Lochen took a few batters to settle in and the White Sox took advantage, scoring 3 runs on 2 hits and 2 hit batsmen.

Down 4-1, the Nats had several scoring opportunities fall short before breaking through in the eighth.   With two down the team strung together 4 successive singles, one by James Herkowski who plated two in the process.   However, after Herkowski reached second on a single by Jungbauer, he was ruled out when leaving the base for a pinch runner.

Next up for the Nationals are the Milwaukee Beavers.  The two teams square off on Saturday afternoon at 12pm at Wisconsin Lutheran College's field.
