Nationals Lose Rubber Match with Manitowoc

Posted by Steve Elliott on May 20 2006 at 05:00PM PDT in 2019 Season
On a day where the Nationals needed innings from anyone and everyone who could contribute they were helped by a strong pitching performance by Curt Pryal, Steve Elliot (yes, Steve Elliot) and Johnny Arnold. The problem wasn't the pitching, again it was the bats! Chalk it up to being rusty or not, soft tossing lefty Jordan Bischel for the Bandits, who relied on pitching below the radar and mixing speeds had his way. For some reason the Nats never really mounted a big offensive attack on this day, dropping a tough 4-2 decision at the hand of Manitowoc. The only offense on the day came when C Jared Stengal doubled with 2 outs in the 6th inning. 1B Tom Donovan then doubled to drive in Stengal, which was followed by a third consecutive double by LF Alex Franson. This made it 3-2 Bandits but the Nationals could never get any closer, only giving up 1 more run and spinning their wheels in almost every situation with runners on base. The offensive output was lead by Donovan who went 3-4 with a double and rbi. Multiple H: Donovan 3 No Multiple RBI Record 1-3 Next up: May 30th vs. McGuires Cats ***Steve Elliot on the hill??***
