Nats Again Drop 10 inning decision to Racine

Weathering the mid-season lull is challenging every year. It is especially challenging when work commitments, family commitments, and illness reduce an otherwise strong unit to a mere skeleton.
Facing a well prepared and deep Kiwanis squad, the Nationals fielded a pitcher-riddled lineup that failed to rise to the challenge.
The Nationals jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Jesse Hart's fourth homer of the year. Jared Stengal's homer in the fourth pushed that lead to 2-0, but the Kiwanis came back to tie the game at two in the fifth. Another tally in the sixth gave the Kiwanis a 3-2 lead. A kick of a potential double play ball in the eighth allowed the Nationals third run to score, but it was to be the last tally of the night for the Nationals.
Racine posted an unearned run in the tenth to secure the victory.
Nationals starting pitcher, Johnny Arnold, gave a valient effort for the locals. Coming off of 10 innings on Sunday, he pitched another 10 innings Tuesday in the complete game loss, allowing only one earned run.
Next up are the expansion Milwaukee Mets who come to Zirkel Field with an impressive 5-4 mark and a noteworthy victory over the otherwise undefeated Racine Kiwanis. The two teams square off for a DH beginning at 6PM on Friday.
