Facing a strong opponent is always best when you can catch them at a weak moment.  Kenosha came to the park for a doubleheader Friday night knowing that they had 2 other doubleheaders were on the slate for Saturday and Sunday.    Mix in a little heat and humidity and you can generate a competitive edge.

Even so, the locals from West Allis had their own challenges.  Work and personal conflicts put the team in position to field a skeleton squad.   Lacking some key performers, the group present elevated its play and prevailed in game one of the doubleheader by a score of 2-1.

Leading the way was the pitching staff.  Jim Jungbauer started on the bump and threw 5 shutout innings before giving way to closer Brandon Kellbach.  After surrendering a run scoring triple in the sixth, Kellbach settled in an finished strong, culminating his performance with a stikeout of Kenosha's cleanup hitter, Jeremy Wilson.

The offense was again lead by Tom Donovan.  Donovan had two doubles and two walks in four plate appearances.  His second double scored Alex Franson and Jesse Hart with what proved to be the game winning runs.

Game two was postponed due to lightning and will be rescheduled in the near future.

Next up is  non-league opponent, Theinsville-Mequon on Thursday June 30 at 7PM at Simmons Field Milwaukee.
