Hoodie & School Daze
Our Middle School Theatre Arts Department opens their 2018-2019 season with Hoodie and School Daze that will play Thursday, October 25 and Friday, October 26, 7 pm at the Dr. Thomas L. Marcy Theatre in the Cypress Center for the Arts. These class productions are under the direction of Cynthia Lowa.
Middle schoolers face a tornado of questions every day. What do I wear? What if I wear the wrong thing? What is she wearing? What do I look like? Stop looking at me!
Hoodie examines image and appearance in the vignette style and poses what may be the most difficult question of all – Do I stay in the clump or do I stand alone?
School Daze, by Lindsay Price: Middle School is the tricky tightrope between being a kid and being a teenager. The characters try to keep their balance on the first day of middle school.
Community Performance!
WPS and other community piano students performed on October 21 at Sonata West Senior Living Center.
Performances included selections by Chopin, Mozart, and other classical composers. A great time was had by all and we plan to go back soon. :-)
New Lower School Music Teacher Announced!
We say good-bye to Ms. Laura Dorkota and want to thank her for her many contributions to our Lower School Music Program. We wish Ms. Dorkota and her family the very best as they remain in Australia.
We welcome Mrs. Katherine Seman to the Windermere Prep Family. Mrs. Seman is in her 25th year as a music educator. Having graduated from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia, with her BS in Music Education and an MS in Performance (clarinet), Katherine is experienced in teaching marching band, wind ensemble, concert band, jazz band, orchestra, chorus, and music theory. Her music programs have routinely won numerous awards as well as having earned “superior” ratings at competitions. She is an accomplished instrumentalist in the clarinet, flute, saxophone, piano, violin, brass, and percussion.
Lakerettes at Homecoming!
The Lakerettes Dance Team worked hard to prepare for last week’s Homecoming Day. The team performed three times on Friday! The dancers did choreography with the band at the parade that morning, pom sidelines and a hip-hop dance at the pep rally later on, and a pom/kick dance at the game that night. The WPS Dance Team is truly one of the reasons why Windermere Prep Fine Arts are amazing!
