Patriots Win Games on Back to Back Nights!

Posted by Justin Lee on Apr 11 2016 at 11:06AM PDT

The FC Patriots came out of spring break to play 2 games in 2 nights of each other. On Wednesday the 6th, we traveled out to Deep Creek to play against Currituck High School based out of North Carolina. After a slow start which led to a tied score of 3-3 at half time, the boys got into groove as they finished the game with a 10-6 win! That win tied our record at 2-2 on the season, however since Currituck is not in our conference for this season, our conference record had remained at 0-2 for the conference record. It was a great win, and I’m sure the boys traveled home with a smile on their faces. It improves our overall record against Currituck to 3-0 in our team’s history!

The next night, Thursday the 7th, the boys had to suit up to play against Maury high school at PAAC. This was the first meeting since the 2014 season when they had beat us 14-7. The only players on the team now who were on the team then were Crew Smith, Jack Stephenson, Justin Acosta, and Curtis Morgan. All of whom were freshman at the time. However, this year and this team proved to want and earn this win as the boys reeled off a close 9-8 win. It was a back and forth game, with no team leading by more than 2 at one time. I could see in the boys’ eyes that they were ready to win that game, all they had to do was earn it. They did it, and got the win! This win improved the teams record to 3-2 on the season, and 1-2 in our conference!

Playing games on back to back days is always a challenge. And the boys handled it perfectly! Over those two games, Miles and Marco stood tall in the goal and played exceptionally well as they made a ton of great saves! Crew Smith continued his progress on the face-off X, winning multiple face-offs (also quite a few face-off violations, but he’ll improve on them). The Defense is playing great in their rotation, and seeing a ton of leadership by everyone. Rayshawn is continuing to score goals…and run in the crease every now and then hahaha, but the goal scoring it always a good thing. Our middies continue to grow and expand in their depth as our newer guys are starting to step up. While the attack continues to be a threat on offense. The team is meshing very well together, and starting it pick it up right when it may matter most. Next up is Landstown today at PAAC, see you all there!!!
