The Varsity football team travels to Dallas, Texas tomorrow for their game against Dallas A+ Academy. The Vikings are coming off two gut-wrenching losses at home, but remain focused on this week’s opponent. “The mark of a great player is in his ability to come back. The great champions have all come back from defeat.” Coach Bagot feels like his team is poised to do just that. The team has had a good week of practice in preparation for their game on Friday. The Vikings are hungry for a win.

After Friday’s game, the team will enjoy Saturday’s college football matchup between the Baylor Bears and the Texas Tech Red Raiders at Cowboys Stadium. This trip couldn’t have come at a better time for the Vikings squad.

The Vikings will be back at home next week, as the team is set to play KIPP Northeastern. Kick off for that game is scheduled for 5:00pm on Viking Field. Good luck to our boys this weekend! Go Vikings!

History Being Made

The Varsity football team is only three games into their young season, but the Vikings are giving us plenty of reasons to believe that this team is special. For the first time in school history, the Vikings have started 3-0. Any time you make school history, you know something special is happening. Lets look a little deeper. Through the first three games, the Vikings have outscored their opponents by a combined 113- 20! The Vikings aren’t exactly squeaking by the opposition. They are DOMINATING them in all phases of the game. They have combined for 15 rushing touchdowns through 3 games. They have an identity, led by Senior running back, Draylyn D, who has 12 rushing touchdowns in the same span. Their defense has been stingy, allowing less than 7 points per game through the first 3 games. They are getting pressure on the quarterback and creating turnovers. They have tremendous Senior leadership with a number of 4 year Varsity players on both sides of the ball. Another reason to be optimistic is the fact that the Vikings have played 2 of the first 3 games on the road so far this season. With 6 of their remaining 8 games coming at home, the Vikings are set up to break more school records. It’s easy to get excited, but this team isn’t taking anything for granted. They are staying focused and disciplined. These two things are the foundation of Coach Bagot’s philosophy. The Vikings are home for their next game on Friday, September 18th. Kick off is set for 5:00pm. Come and show your support for your Varsity football team. Go Vikings!

The Varsity football team traveled to Austin on Friday for their first road test of the season as they played East Austin Prep. The Vikings came in confident after tasting success the first game of the season. The Vikings wasted little time, picking up right where they left off last Saturday. After the first quarter, the Vikings led 12-0 on a pair of rushing TD’s by Senior running back, Draylyn D. The second quarter busted this game wide open. Draylyn D got loose for 3 more rushing TD’s, putting the Vikings in front at halftime, 36-0! Draylyn set a new school record for rushing touchdowns in a single game, but he only needed one half to do it! Impressive display! The defense was lights out, forcing turnovers, getting stops, and giving the ball right back to their offense. The Vikings controlled the ball and clock in the second half. Quarterback, Lewis H, capped off another touchdown drive after throwing to Senior wide receiver, Earl W for another Viking touchdown. Last but not least, the Vikings pounded in another rushing touchdown, only this time it was from Senior, Dami O. The Vikings controlled the ball with their relentless, “Ground and Pound,” attack. This team has a clear identity, they are disciplined, and they are focused. Promising combination from a team and coaching staff that is delivering. Great job boys! The Vikings next game is another away contest. Kickoff is at 7:00pm on Friday, September 11th at KIPP Generations. Come out and support your Vikings who are looking to start 3-0 for the first time in school history!

After a great win in their season opener at home on Saturday, the Varsity football team will travel to Austin on Friday to take on East Austin Prep. The Vikings are looking forward to the opportunity to carry their momentum into Game 2. Head Coach, Kevon Bagot, was happy with the team’s effort and play on both sides of the ball after Game 1. “There is still a lot we need to clean up and improve on, but we are heading in the right direction. It will be a process from practice to practice, game to game. It’s all about staying focused and being disciplined.” The Vikings are definitely heading in the right direction. With a strong attention to detail, and team identity, this group will definitely keep improving. Good luck to our players and coaches as they travel this Friday! Go Vikings!

The Varsity football team played their home opener on Saturday against Acadiana Home School from Louisiana. The Vikings wasted no time establishing their identity- run the ball. The Vikings marched down the field on their opening drive, which culminated in a Draylyn D touchdown run to put the Vikings up early. 6-0. The Vikings added two more rushing touchdowns in the second quarter, one by Dami O, and another by Draylyn D to go into the locker room with a 22-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, it was more of the same. The Vikings added two second half touchdowns to increase their lead, 36-0. The defense was dominant from start to finish, only allowing 102 yards of total offense the entire game. Dami O led the team with 8 tackles, including a forced fumble and fumble recovery. The offense was led by Senior RB, Draylyn D’s 127 yards and 3 touchdowns. Dami O also added 93 yards rushing with 2 touchdowns.
