We can do it but it takes us all doing our small part for TEAM SUCCESS!!!!

Dionte Allen, our very own #8 made 1st team 5A AP. This is the 1st time in Jeffersonville History a football player made this accomplishment as a sophomore. Congrulation Allen, can’t wait to see what we can do with your services the next two years. We all know it takes a team to accomplishment greatness. Below is the link to an article in the Indianapolis Star.

Furthermore, I was selected as Co-Coach of the year. This link is for that article below. On Tuesday, I received an email about this award and was asked to respond to three questions. The responses are listed below for all to see. Obviously, Mr. Keosters could not have printed all my lengthy responses, but feel free to share with all.

What made this a special year for you?
The relationships. It has to start with my players. They put that petition together for their support of me and my qualities as a individual. Most coaches don’t get this opportunity to “take over” after being in the same school. Coaches usually have to “come in” and earn their players respect which takes time. As “Coach”, I owe them a great deal of thanks and look forward to continuing on serving them in the future. Furthermore, my relationships with my fellow coaches. I can’t do this by myself and without them, many of whom have played for me or coached with me in the past, I say WOW! All that time we spent together at Thornton’s & Zaxby’s has paid off. As coaches, we often lose ourselves in the needs of others. Finally, as a educator, I have to say thanks to Mr. Sexton for allowing me the opportunity to continue to lead in this profession I love. As an educator, we have a opportunity daily to influence and guide young people for life.

What will you remember most about your successful year?
“JOY” What a feeling of JOY we all had as a community, school and team that night verses Jennings Co. Pure “JOY” was the only emotion we had as time ticked away in the game here on Senior Night. This emotion does not come around often, but when it does, PRICELESS!!!! Our team accomplished a major goal with a winning regular season of 5-4. The experiences gained by everyone on personal levels, laid a positive foundation for many of us to follow and benefit for years come.

Was there a defining moment to your season, a moment when you knew that this season would be a good one for your team? What was it, if so?
The Madison game where we exploded for 42 points in 19 minutes of game time. The score was 42-14 with 5:07 left in the third quarter, game over, so I pulled the starters after that one. This was our fourth game together, with a new system and style. However, in the second quarter we had just scored 21 unanswered points and 28 total in the 2nd quarter. We seemed unfazed as a team about doing something like that which led to my confusion at half time? Our talk at that moment had a positive effect on our teams’ enthusiasm for the game of football and fans too, for the rest of the season. We were no longer the “Little Engine That Could”! We believed in our team and started to count on each other. It is my hope, that these qualities will carry over to future teams that I serve here as “Coach” at Jeffersonville.
