Lady Titan LAX Family,

I have received the latest rosters and schedules for the Fall Ball 7v7 games starting on 7 OCT. Here are the details:

- Games will be played every Sunday morning from 7 OCT through 4 NOV with the last Sunday for the playoffs.
- All games will be played at Blue Valley North HS (12200 Lamar Ave, Overland Park, KS 66209) on their main turf football field.
- For all returning players, please bring your LSW practice pinney just in case we are short of pinnies from the league this season.
- Because we are playing 8 on the field at all times (7 field players + 1 GK), we do not have very many substitutes during any given game, so please make sure to attend these games if you are playing so we have enough subs.
- During every game, we will need a volunteer to sit at the table on the field and keep score of the game. Time is kept by the league, so we will need to just keep score.

Hello Lady Titan LAX Family,

Here’s what we can expect for the upcoming week in the lacrosse world:

First – Indoor sessions at Lakeland are going extremely well. It’s not too late to bring in new players, so if anyone knows of a student at LSW that may be interested in playing, please tell her to come out to Lakeland on Tuesday night, even if it’s just to watch.

Second – I know we had some late registrations to 7v7, so I am waiting on 2 pieces of information from the league before we start the 7v7 games on 7 OCT. I am waiting on the updated list of players for LSW with the late registrations added, and I am also waiting on the schedule. Once I get that information, I’ll share it with everyone.

That’s it for now…have a great week everyone!

~Coach Jay

Good Morning Lady Titan LAX Family,

I wanted to touch base with everyone to get some information out on what’s coming up;

First – our first night of indoor lax practice at Lakeland was a great success with good numbers. We had 6 brand new players trying lacrosse, which is pretty exciting…if any of you know of more new potential players, send them our way. Also, if you have not paid the $80 for the fall indoor sessions, please do that ASAP as we need to pay the church for the field rental.

Secondly – registration for the fall 7v7 league is now closed. We had 21 girls sign up, which will give us enough players for 2 teams with 2-3 subs per team, which will mean plenty of playing time. There was over 220 girls signed up over 11 teams, so we are right on the average for participation. For those who have not participated in this league in the past, here’s the format. Each team will play double-headers every Sunday afternoon in October, with a playoff in the first Sunday in November. Attendance for these games is imperative due to the few subs we have. We’ll also be playing teams from other schools, so we’ll get a good idea on how we measure up against the other clubs in the metro. Games will be played at Blue Valley North HS (one block south of the Sprint campus in OPK. The address is 12200 Lamar Ave, Overland Park, KS 66209. We should be getting the schedule within the next week. I’ll share it with all of you as soon as I get it.

That’s it for now…we have more coming up, but these 2 items are the most important for now. Have a great week!

Coach Jay.

Lady Titan LAX Family,

I wanted to reach out to all of you to put out a “Call to Arms” for volunteers. I really don’t like to do things like this as I know all of you are busy, but we are at a point where we will need help, and I think the girl’s team should bear a proportional amount of the burden as the boy’s parents do when it comes to helping run this lacrosse club. In other words, I think it’s only fair we pull our own weight when running this awesome club.

That being said, here’s what we will need help with, and if any of you are interested in donating your time and talent to the cause, you’ll help us maintain our reputation as one of the best-run and strongest high school lacrosse clubs in the KC Metro.

- Lacrosse Board Positions. We currently have 2 openings to fill and could be filled by any lacrosse parent. These positions are usually a 2-year commitment. The amount of time you’ll need to dedicate to this cause will be about 2 hours a month during our monthly board meeting, plus discussions over email (and maybe phone calls). You’ll be a part of the fiscal decisions of the club, as well as the strategic direction for future seasons.

- Help with onsite registration: We would like to have a few people help with registration activities in December. Usual positions are things like collecting money, helping with online activities (joining Teampages, US Lacrosse membership, etc…), help with uniform sizing.

- Help with Senior Night festivities. If you are a parent of a Senior player, please do not volunteer as we want to use this night to celebrate you and your daughter.

- Help with the End of Season Banquet. We would like people to help plan the dates, decorations, food, etc…

- Gameday Activities: For our home games, I will need some help with setting up the field for play, I need someone in the press box running the scoreboard (clock and scores), I need 2 people at the table on the sideline (one to keep the books and one to be a spotter).

If any of you could help, that would be awesome. As you can see, there are a lot things going on that most don’t see if you are not actively part of the process throughout the year. I like to use the analogy of a duck on the lake…the duck glides across the water so gracefully, but nobody sees the feet below the water line paddling like crazy.

If any of you have any questions or want to volunteer, please reach out to me at lswhsgirlslax@gmail.com or at 816-977-5707.

Thank you so much,
~Coach Jay
Go Titans.
