News and Announcements

Lady Titan LAX Family,

The LSW LAX Club has set up a New Player/Parent Informational Meeting for any LSW female student who may be interested in joining our family. The meeting is scheduled for 14 NOV at 7pm at the LSW Lecture Hall. If any of you know anyone who may be interested in playing lacrosse with us, please pass this along so they can get to the meeting and learn about the club, our team, the costs to play, who we play, etc….

We wanted to set this up prior to registration so they can make the decision ahead of time. Let’s make our family bigger! The more the merrier, because we know what an awesome group of players, parents and coaches we have here…why not share?

We will be at the lecture hall at 6:30pm to help set up the room if anyone wants to join us and help.

~Coach Jay

Hello Lady Titan LAX Family,
First, I want to apologize for what happened during our 5:30pm 7v7 game yesterday. For those who don’t know what happened, the game between us and Blue Valley got extremely rough and dangerous. The official allowed that type of play to continue, and it came to a boiling point when one of our players took a stick to the head. Between our parents on the sideline yelling at the ref, and the coaches yelling at him from the bench area, the referee got upset and called off the game. Last night I received an email from the KC Metro League president discussing the matter. He explained that our behavior as a club (meaning both parents and coaches) was not acceptable, and I countered with the fact that the level of officiating was not acceptable…so our discussion continues. That being said, I have already asked that our coaching staff take it down a notch, and I am going to ask the parents to do the same. Player safety is extremely important to me, and when the safety of our players is not taken into account, I become very vocal. Is it the best way to handle the situation, maybe not. I will say that I will do my best to work with the league to help clean up the game. I can guarantee that moving forward any referee that is going to officiate one of our games is going to look for a reason to discipline us, which usually means ejection of a coach or parent. So, let’s work on being part of the solution and not the problem as I push the league to work with the officials to clean up play. I’ll work on it if all of you work on it.

Now that we have gotten that out of the way, let’s talk about what is coming up this next week:
Tuesday 30 OCT – This is the last night of indoor lacrosse at Lakeland for the year. We will start back up in January.
Sunday 4 NOV – Here are the game times for 7v7 games.
LSW Blue:
11:30 vs SM Blue (Field 1)
12:30 vs St. James Red (Field 1)
LSW Silver:
4:30 vs BV Blue (Field 1)
5:30 vs Aquinas Gold (Field 1)
The 11 NOV date is for the playoffs. When I get a schedule for that week, I’ll let you know.

Here’s some important things to note of what we have coming up with the LSW LAX Club.
Wednesday 14 NOV – We have a couple of big events happening on this day. First, we have Senior Ashlynn Boydston signing her National Letter of Intent to play lacrosse for Missouri Valley College. This ceremony will be right after school in the LSW Field House. We are so proud of Ashlynn as this has been a dream of hers for years now. The ceremony starts at 2:45pm.
Secondly, this will be the first year our club will have a New Player/New Parent Information Meeting. We have scheduled this for 14 NOV at 7pm at the LSW Lecture Hall. If you know of any girl who may be interested in playing lacrosse for LSW this upcoming Spring, let them know about this meeting. We would love to have the student and parents there. We will be discussing everything about our club, our team, the league we play in, the costs. We wanted to have this meeting prior to registration so they can make an informed decision. Please spread the word!!

1 DEC & 5 DEC – These will be in-person registration sessions where you can complete the registration, buy spirit-wear, and write the big check. It is imperative that all new players who do not have an LSW uniform make it to one of these sessions to get properly fitted for a uniform.

Here is a quick checklist of what you need to have completed before you walk into LSW to attend the in-person Registration in December:
- A current US Lacrosse membership that is valid through 1 JUNE 2019. To complete this, go to www.uslacrosse.org and Join (for new players) or Renew (for returning players). Please let me know if you have any questions. If during this process you are asked for which club you are a part of, choose KC Metro Girls Lacrosse
- A current sports physical that is uploaded into the PRIVIT website. (The sports office will not accept paper copies) I have attached the “how-to” document for you. Also, here’s the website: https://lswtitans-mo.e-ppe.com/index.jspa
- Complete the online registration on the Teampages site (that is not active yet. I will let you know when it is)

That’s it for this week. Please let me know if you have any questions.

~Coach Jay

Lady Titan Lax Family,

In my weekly announcement, I stated that your US Lacrosse membership needs to be valid through 1 JUNE 2020. That is incorrect, it just needs to be valid through 1 JUNE 2019. Sorry for the mixup…it’s a Monday morning.

~Coach Jay

Lady Titan LAX Family,
First, what a great day of 7v7 Fall Ball for West yesterday. The weather was perfect, and with a 4-0 record for LSW, it was a perfect day for us as well. Between both of our teams through all 4 games, we had a total of 62 goals for vs 22 goals against. I don’t know about you, but that sounds awesome to me!

Secondly, please mark your calendars for the upcoming Registration for the Spring 2019 season. The dates that the LSW LAX Board has decided on are Saturday 1 DEC and Wednesday 5 DEC. These will be in-person registration sessions where you can complete the registration, buy spirit-wear, and write the big check. It is imperative that all new players who do not have an LSW uniform make it to one of these sessions to get properly fitted for a uniform. As soon as I hear the times for these sessions, I’ll let you know.

Lady Titan LAX Family,

First, for those players and parents that braved the weather conditions yesterday, I wanted to say “Thank You”. The weather was ugly at best, and got so bad around 4pm, that our second game for LSW Blue was postponed. I have been told by the league that they will reschedule that game we missed yesterday, so I will just let you know now that we can expect on at least one Sunday of the next three, the LSW Blue team will be scheduled for 3 games instead of 2 to make up the game that was cancelled yesteday. As soon as I know the details, I’ll share it with all of you.

Secondly, I would like to thank JD Warner for accepting the invitation to serve on the LSW Lacrosse Club Board to fill an immediate open board position. I am more than confident that JD will be a great representative of the girl’s team for the next 2 seasons. We also had 2 other volunteers (Jennifer Ward and Lori Oster) who offered their time and talent to the Board. We appreciate your willingness to help. Jennifer has been appointed as the LSW Lacrosse Club’s representative for the LSWHS Booster Club. And don’t worry Lori, we’ll find something for you real quick, lol.

Now, let’s discuss what’s coming up this week:

Tuesday 16 OCT (Week 5 of indoor sessions) – we will continue to work on our fundamentals.

Sunday 21 OCT: Here are the game schedules for this upcoming Sunday’s 7v7 games:

LSW Blue:
12:30pm LSW Blue vs NDS White (Field 2)
2:30pm LSW Blue vs BV White (Field 2)

LSW Silver:
11:30am LSW Silver vs LSN Silver (Field 1)
1:30pm LSW Silver vs SJA Navy (Field 1)

That’s it for now…it looks like we should have great weather for the week, so let’s hope for a beautiful day on Sunday for our games.
Have a wonderful week, everyone.
