Lady Titan LAX Family,

The 2019 Season is HERE! Now that we are “in-season”, it is going to get really busy, and we won’t slow down until Mid-May. Put your seat belts on, strap them on tight, and let take this ride! My Monday morning emails from here on out will be for what’s coming up for each week. I have added some addition information below as this is week one.

Here is what is coming up for this week:
Monday 25 FEB – First practice at the LSW Field House from 5pm-7pm. Bring tennis shoes and all equipment.
Tuesday 26 FEB – Meet at the LSW Commons at 5pm. We may go outdoors if the turf field is available, so all players should come dressed in layers with both tennis shoes and cleats and be ready to practice outdoors if we get the opportunity to use the turf field.
Wednesday 27 FEB – Meet at the LSW Commons at 5pm. We may go outdoors if the turf field is available, so all players should come dressed in layers with both tennis shoes and cleats and be ready to practice outdoors if we get the opportunity to use the turf field.
Thursday 28 FEB – Practice at the LSW Aux Gym from 5pm – 7pm. This will also be the night we announce the 2019 Varsity roster. We will also have the 2019 Mandatory Parent Meeting at 7pm in LSW’s Bateman Hall. Parents, please make every effort to attend.

Below is the “almost final” version of the 2019 schedule. Please know, that dates and/or times are subject to change, especially with this crazy weather we are having this year, so please be flexible. Pencil in these dates and times, and if something changes, I’ll be sure to let you know.

For those in their first year with the team, the format is as follows:
There are 12 total varsity teams in the metro, separated into 2 divisions. LSW is in the East Division, which are the 6 strongest programs in the KC Metro.
We play the other 5 teams in the division twice (one home, one away) for a total of 10 games. We are guaranteed a playoff spot as all 6 teams are in the playoffs, along with the top 2 teams in the other division. What we want is to be one of the top 2 seeds, so we can get a 1st round bye.
For JV, the top 4 teams out of all JV teams in the metro will play in the playoffs. For us, our goal is to play in our 4th consecutive championship game.

9 APRIL – Sion @ LS West. JV at 5:30, V at 7pm. (LS West Stadium)
11 APRIL – LS North @ LS West. JV at 5:30, V at 7pm. (LS West Stadium)
16 APRIL – St Teresa’s Academy @ LS West. JV at 5:30, V at 7pm. (LS West Stadium)
18 APRIL – LS West @ Blue Valley. JV at 6, V at 7:30pm (Blue Valley NW Football Stadium)
22 APRIL – Park @ LS West. JV at 5:30, V at 7pm. (LS West Stadium)
29 APRIL – LS West @ Sion. V at 4:30, JV at 6pm. (Notre Dame de Sion Stadium)
1 MAY – LS West @ St. Teresa’s Academy. V at 4:30, JV at 6pm. (St. Teresa’s Academy Stadium)

I just remembered that LSR7 is hosting a Sports Physical clinic at Lee’s Summit HS this Saturday from 8am – 10:30am.

Details below:

February 23 @ LSHS (Attendance Entrance)
Time:  8:00 am to 10:30 am (doors lock at 10:30) students are seen in the order that they
           arrive.    
Who:  R-7 SCHOOL DISTRICT STUDENTS
            Entering Grades 8th-12th for the 2019-2020 school year
Cost:  Nonrefundable $20.00 Pre-registration online through your parent portal in
PowerSchool (look for ‘make a payment’, add ‘sports physical clinic’ (choose location) to cart, check out)  Online registration will close at noon the Friday before each clinic.  (This is a fundraiser that benefits all three high schools Athletic Training Programs and the cost is nonrefundable.)              
              $25.00-Walk-ins (cash or check only)

Lady Titan LAX Family,

According to a quick report today, about 20-25% of our team still do NOT have a sports physical on file uploaded into the PRIVT website. I need to stress to all of you that if a player does not have a sports physical on file by 5pm Monday, I will not allow her to participate as it is a school district requirement. If you still need to get a physical, please make sure to take care of this ASAP.

Here are some details:
If you already have a PRIVIT account, parents and students please update all documents (archive all prior forms and re-sign all documents for 2019-20 school year) or New to PRIVIT you will create an account on your school’s PRIVIT page. After creating an account, you will add your student as a member and enter their information. Also, please JOIN A TEAM so that your student’s profile is visible to his/her school activities office. Upload page 2 of the MSHSAA Physical Exam Form after completion of the physical. HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY: Go to your high school’s PRIVIT page

Also, thanks to Mother Nature, it looks like we will have to be extremely flexible with practice locations next week during our first official week of the Spring 2019 season.

Happy Monday Lady Titan LAX Family,

WE ARE ONE WEEK AWAY FROM THE START OF THE 2019 SPRING SEASON!!

It’s hard to believe we are that close to this party getting started. We have a few events coming up, so I want to make sure everyone marks their calendars.

The first draft of the 2019 season is days from being declared “official” …once it is, I’ll be sending it out to everyone. I hear other teams are making changes which is why the schedule is not official yet. We currently have 5 home games, and 5 away games on the schedule. I may schedule a couple more home game dates soon.

Here is a list of events that are coming up:

Start of Spring Season / Varsity Tryouts – The official start of the Spring 2019 season is 25 FEB 2019. We will be moving our practices to LSW on Mondays through Thursday’s from 5pm – 7pm. Our practice field will be the field directly behind the tennis courts. If we have to move indoors due to wet weather or wet fields, we will move practice indoors in the LSW Aux Gyms. I will alert everyone via Teampages texts if we have a change in practice locations. We will be having our Varsity tryouts on Monday through Thursday of that week (25-28 FEB). Here’s a list of all things that MUST be completed prior to 25 FEB or you will NOT be allowed to take the field:

• US Lacrosse Membership – must be valid to around 1 JUNE 2019.
• Current Sports Physical – must be uploaded into PRIVT website.
• All dues paid.

MANDATORY PARENT MEETING (28 FEB at 7pm) – The annual mandatory parent meeting is scheduled for Thursday 28 FEB at 7pm at LSW’s Bateman Hall. I want at least one (if not both) parents of each player on the team to attend this meeting. I want to introduce the coaching staff, discuss player and parent expectations, discuss the upcoming season, out of town tournaments, etc… Please make every effort to attend this meeting. I have found this meeting is very important on level-setting expectations from both the coach’s and the parent’s perspectives.

Spring Break – We will not have organized team practices during the week of Spring Break. If players want to get together on their own, that’s perfectly fine.

First week of Games – Our games start on the week of 25 MARCH, with our first game tentatively scheduled for Wednesday 27 MARCH at LS North HS.

Lee’s Summit vs Omaha / Des Moines Playdate on 29-30 MARCH. They will travel to LSMO and we’ll have a small tournament where each LS team will play each Omaha/Des Moines team. All 3 Lee’s Summit girl’s teams will be playing, and as of right now there are 2 teams from Omaha/Des Moines committed to play. This is supposed to be a Varsity-level tournament, but the position coaches will be deciding which JV players they will want to invite to participate as the date gets closer.

KC vs STL Playdate on 5-6 APRIL. Our Varsity team will travel to St. Louis to play 3 STL area teams (1 on Fri night, 2 on Sat). As of right now, the 3 STL area teams are Lafayette, Cor Jesu and Parkway West. From KC, we have LSW, St. Teresa’s, Sion and Shawnee Mission committed. The schedule for that weekend has been posted. I will send out the details as we get closer to that weekend.

Good Morning Lady Titan LAX Family,

As we go through the week today, we have two significant events coming up.

LSW LACROSSE BOARD MEETING – Tonight we have our monthly LSW Lacrosse Board Meeting at 7pm in the LSW’s Bateman Hall. Although this meeting is entirely optional, we could always use volunteers as we have outgoing Board members leaving at the end of the season, and we have events to plan for during the season like Senior Night and the End of Season Banquet. Thank you to JD Warner for joining the Board this season, and to Jennifer Ward for helping this year and officially joining the board next year. Add in Steve Oliver and Hope MacKenzie, and we have great representation for the girl’s team on the Board. We appreciate your help.

LOCK-IN AT LAKELAND CHURCH – We have our team lock-in scheduled for this Friday night. Please know that weather forecasts are predicting a snow event this Friday and Saturday. I will be monitoring the weather forecasts as it gets closer to Friday, and may make the decision to cancel the event due to safety concerns about having students on the road coming to and leaving the church during poor weather conditions. I value your opinions, so if you want to contact me with your thoughts on what we should do on Friday, feel free to text me at 816-977-5707 with your thoughts. I will send out a communication on Friday either confirming or cancelling the event.

MANDATORY PARENT MEETING – We have confirmation on the location of the meeting. Please mark your calendars for Thursday 28 FEB at 7pm in LSW’s Bateman Hall for the mandatory parent meeting. I would like for at least 1 parent (if not both) to attend this meeting as it gives the coaching staff an opportunity to communicate our expectations for the players, and my expectations for both the players and the parents during the season. It also gives all of you an opportunity to ask questions. Please make every effort to attend this meeting.
