News and Announcements

Lady Titan LAX Family,

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far. I know it’s difficult to think about lacrosse during the summer off-season, but we still have Board Meetings so we can be prepared once the school year begins.

We will have our next Board meeting this Wednesday evening (12 JUNE) at 7pm at the LSW Library. The meeting is not mandatory, but all of you are invited. We will be saying goodbye to a couple of board members as they transition out, and I will be asking for volunteers from our family to join the LSW Lacrosse Board to backfill their ranks. If any of you are interested in donating your time and talent to the lacrosse board, please attend this meeting and let the Board know that you are interested in serving.

We will also be announcing our new LSW Faculty sponsor who will be replacing Mr. Rasdall.

If you can attend, we would love to see you there.

The Season is Over.....Now What?

Posted by Jay Hertzler at May 21, 2019 10:31AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Hello Lady Titan LAX Family,

I don’t know about you, but I am going through some withdrawal symptoms now that the season is over. I know I already said my Thank You’s during the banquet, but I wanted to thank everyone again for a wonderful season. And a big Thank You to all those who volunteered, whether it was on game nights, Senior Night, and the Banquet. We could not have done it without you. I can’t wait to see how next Spring treats us.

Now that the season is over, summer lacrosse opportunities are starting to happen. These are NOT mandatory by any means, but we recommend that players at least do something lacrosse-related to keep her skills up. I hope you get a chance to participate.

I wanted to let everyone know that I have already reserved the indoor field at Lakeland Community Church for the Fall and Winter sessions. I highly recommend that if you know of anyone who may be interested in trying lacrosse, or playing lacrosse with us next season, that they try one of these sessions. Especially the Fall session…that way they can try playing lacrosse before registration happens in December.

That being said, here are the dates…so mark your calendars accordingly

Fall Session
Tuesday Nights from 7pm – 9pm
10 SEPT 2019 – 29 OCT 2019

Winter Session
Sunday Evenings from 5pm – 7pm
5 JAN 2020 – 23 FEB 2020

Enjoy your Summer!!! Use this time to recruit new players.

Lady Titan LAX Family,

As we head into this week where our season is over, all of our games have been played, there are no more practices, I am saddened that I cannot see all of you on a daily basis until next season…and I think about our 20 seniors who are now done with school and are about to walk across stage and start their next chapter in their lives, and how I won’t have the pleasure of coaching them anymore. We only have one last event on our calendar for this week.

FRIDAY 17 MAY – End of Season Banquet. Food will be served in the commons starting at 6pm. The actual ceremony will start around 7pm in the PAC…there are 50 girls on this team, so there are a lot of girls to celebrate. Consider this as an FYI…this ceremony may take a while…we really like each other, so won’t be in a hurry to end the ceremony. If you have not RSVP’d, please do that ASAP…we need an accurate count for food. Players and coaches eat for free…then you’ll need to pay $10 per family member who plans on eating.

As for summer opportunities….I sent some information out last week on summer clubs and leagues. Make sure you communicate with your teammates to see who is signing up for what so you can share in the experience.

That’s it for now. See you on Friday.

Lady Titan Family,

For our Varsity team, the playoffs week is upon us. This will be the final week of the 2019 season. It is amazing how quickly it went by. We enter the playoff tournament as the #3 seed. Now that we know we are the #3 seed, we will play Park Lacrosse in the 1st round of the playoffs. Should we advance, we would play the winner of the Blue Valley vs Shawnee Mission game in the Semifinal game on Wednesday at 7:30pm.

Here’s the schedule and additional information:
All games will be played at Rockhurst University, Bourke Field (turf), 1100 Rockhurst Road, Kansas City, MO 64110

I have attached a map with information for those who have not been there before.

Schedule:
Home (higher seed) wears light colors / Away (lower seed) wears dark colors:

Monday, May 6 at Rockhurst University
Varsity game quarterfinal 1 — Seed 1 v 8 (West #2) — 5:30
Varsity game quarterfinal 2 — Seed 2 v 7 (West #1) — 7:30

Tuesday, May 7 at Rockhurst University

Varsity quarterfinal 4 — Seed 4 v 5 — 7:30

Wednesday, May 8 at Rockhurst Univ
Varsity semifinal game 1 — winner quarterfinal 1 vs winner quarterfinal 4 — 5:30
Varsity semifinal game 2 — winner quarterfinal 2 vs winner quarterfinal 3 — 7:30

Thursday, May 9 at Rockhurst Univ
JV final game — 5:30
Recognition of All-Metro team (between games). Our 4 All-Metro players will be recognized at this time.
Varsity final game — 7:30

There will be a $5 gate fee for adults to help offset the field rental. Children and high school students will be allowed in for free. Also, there will not be a concession stand, so make sure to bring your own drinks and/or food.

Our JV players and parents are more than welcome to come out and support our Varsity team. In fact, the louder the better.

I would also like to congratulate our four Varsity players who were announced as part of the 2019 KC Metro League All-Metro Team. Congrats to Danielle Cobbett, Marlo Tatum, Alyssa Humphrey and Ashlynn Boydston. Well done, ladies.

Team pics have yet to be uploaded into their website. Here is the link to the picture packages that will allow you to pre-order at special pricing and free shipping. Here’s the link:

Summer Lacrosse Opportunities

Posted by Jay Hertzler at May 3, 2019 7:40AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Lady Titan LAX Family,
Several players and parents have reached out to me asking for information on summer lacrosse opportunities. There are several different clubs in the KC area if you are looking for development and tournament play. Their costs are different, so I advise you to do your research, and have your daughters reach out to her teammates to maybe share in the experience (and carpool). I will defer from offering my opinion on which club is better than others. Several players on our team have participated in Fountain City (Danielle, Ashlynn) and Blue Lions (Carleigh, Alyssa, Madi Loomer)…if you are looking for opinions, I would start there.

Below is a list of the clubs in the area (in no specific order):

Fountain City Lacrosse Club (Development and Out-of-Town Tournaments):
https://www.fountaincitylacrosse.com/fcl-2019-20-girls

Blue Lions Lacrosse Club (Development and Out-of-Town Tournaments):

True Lacrosse KS
Travel Team: https://ks.truelacrosse.com/girlstravel
Training and Development: https://ks.truelacrosse.com/girlstraining

KC Heartland Lacrosse Club:

There is also a summer lacrosse league that is more of a season format that is not geared towards development or tournament play, but more for just playing games. If anyone is interested in participating in this, I suggest that the players talk to each other and form a team of just LS West girls. The link is for girls 15yrs old and older.

I hope that answers everyone’s questions. Do your research, good luck, have fun, and don’t get injured.
