News and Announcements

Hello Lady Titan LAX Family,

I hope everyone is doing well, and keeping their sanity. As you have already guessed, there is really nothing to report from the lacrosse front. I do have some quick housekeeping items to share with you:

1: Refunds – Several of you have asked about refunds. I have not shared much information yet because these discussions are still happening at the LSW LAX Board level. Once final decisions have been made and logistics have been finalized, I will share that information with you.

2: KC Metro League Stick Skills Challenge – The KC Metro Girls League Association (KCMGLA) has issued a Stick Skills challenge across the league for players to show off their best skills with weekly prizes at stake. Here’s the email from the league with the details:

During these trying times, it is important to stay home and stay safe. However, that doesn’t mean the players have to put down their sticks. KCMGLA has created a weekly challenge for the players to keep their hands on the stick, and encourage them to advance their skills. The challenge will run weekly, starting Sunday and ending Friday at noon. The weekly winner will be announced Friday afternoon. The winner will receive that week’s prize. Prizes will vary per week and will be announced on our social media accounts. The Challenge will start April 6th and end on May 22nd.

Please rise up to the challenge by following along to these rules:

- Record and Submit a video by Friday at noon!
- Submissions can be made on Instagram and/or Twitter by tagging kcmetrogirlslax. - The player must follow KCMGLA on Instagram and Twitter. - If the player does not have social media, submissions can be sent to directorkcgirlslax.com and information about the weekly prize will be given!

To stay up to date on the challenge, follow our Instagram and twitter accounts (@kcmetrogirlslax). Please forward this on to your players!

Hope to see lots of videos!!
KCMGLA

So, there you go. Good luck, I hope you win. Submit your videos. If you don’t know what skill to try, look up some stick skills on YouTube and practice. Let’s represent!

That’s it for this week. Stay safe!

Lady Titan LAX Family,

This morning I received the final word that I had been dreading. The KC Metro Girls Lacrosse league has officially canceled the season for this Spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On behalf of the LSW Lacrosse Board and the Girls LAX Coaching staff, our hearts go out to our 2020 Seniors who never got the opportunity to enjoy their final moments of glory on the field during their final season of their high school careers. Without a doubt, I wish it could have been different…but i completely understand the league’s decision to cancel Ultimately the safety of everyone involved, from the players to the coaches to the parents, is paramount.

To our Seniors, we will miss all of you. Thank you for everything.

So what now? I recommend everyone who is planning on coming back for next season to do the following:

1. Continue to stay in shape as best you can. Run, lift weights, swim, etc…the more conditioned you are when you return, the less time we have to spend on getting you in shape.
2. Make sure you put your stick in your hands a couple of times a week. Practice cradling, have a catch with someone, do wall-ball, throw against a bounce-back, etc…getting touches and reps is extremely valuable.
3. Stay in touch with each other…continue to use social media, Facetime, Zoom, etc…just make sure to talk to each other. Use each other to lean on during these crazy times. The social aspect of this team, this lacrosse family, is what makes us so strong. Let’s not lose that during this shutdown.

That’s it for now…if I hear of any summer lacrosse programs, I’ll be sure to share that information with everyone. Try your best to stay safe. Try your best to keep your spirits up. I look forward to the time I can stand on the field with all of you again.

Hello Lady Titan Family,

I hope everyone is able to stay “sheltered-in-place” as much as possible to not catch the virus. I wanted to give you a quick update as to where we are with this season.

- As of this morning, there is still NO word from MSHSAA on any cancellation of this Spring 2020 season yet. So, we are still in the original plan, where the KC Metro League is monitoring MSHSAA and will make their decision based on that. That being said, I recommend all of you stay in shape, go running, do some wall-ball, have a catch with a sibling/parent, etc…make sure not to pack on the “COVID-15” by snacking all the time.

- As a reminder, please stay away from all LSR7 properties during this time.

- Last week we had to say goodbye to our two foreign exchange students who went back home. Nadine leaves today to go back to Switzerland, and Lena left last Friday to go back to Spain. Of course, this comes with mixed feelings as I wish we had an actual season for them to play in before going back home, but I am glad they were able to spend what little time with us that they did. I wish them well as they are back in Europe, and they will always be part of our lacrosse family.

That’s it for now. Stay home, stay safe. Wash those hands! If anyone needs anything, please let me know.

Reminder from LS West

Posted by Jay Hertzler at Mar 26, 2020 10:07AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Hello Lady Titan LAX Family,

I just received a reminder email from our AD (Jereme Hubbard) about the use of LSW Facilities during this break:

“Hope all is well so far this week. Please send out a note to your athletes that they need to stay off school property during this time. They need to do their workouts in their homes and neighborhoods, rather than using the school facility. With the restrictions in place we have to communicate to them that they can’t be on school grounds during this time. Thanks, and I know this is a difficult time for all of us especially for our kids. Thanks for helping everyone stay healthy.”

Please make sure you comply with this so our club does not get in trouble.

Stay Healthy, and stay Safe.
