In game two of their quarterfinal series, Chariho edged Cranston, 3-2, to advance to a semifinal matchup with the winner of Slocum Baseball (#2 seed) and West Warwick (#7 seed).

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Jason Edwards drove in Liam Currier, who stole second base, with a walk-off single with two outs to win the game for the Chargers.

Justin Giles, who pitched all eight innings, picked up the victory for Chariho. Alan Carpenter also had a key rbi in this closely contested game.

Defensively, infielders Ethan Elderkin (third base) and Adam Carpenter (shortstop) played well. In addition, Brendan McGovern came up big behind the plate as well as the outfield trio of Austin DeAngelis, Jack Stevens and Kyle McGovern.
McGovern actually threw out a runner in the seventh inning.

West Warwick’s Connie Mack team advanced to the quarterfinals where they will meet #2 seed Slocum Baseball Club of North Kingstown (10-2) with a 7-4 victory over East Providence.

West Warwick opportunistically took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning on three errors, one walk and two hit batsmen.

Down 4-1 in the top of the fifth inning, the Knights tied it up 4-4 when Zach Sutton (walk) and Blake Fuller (fielder’s choice) scored on Matt Borden’s two-run double to left field. Borden, then, tied it up when Christian Laureano tripled to right-center.

Tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, West Warwick scored three runs on hits by Chase Joubert (double), Sammy Corrado (single), Josh Pedus (rbi double) and Dominic Carollo (rbi double) for a 7-4 lead.

Logan Dean came into seventh inning and picked up the save by retiring two batters on fly outs and striking out one.

The Narragansett/South Kingstown Lions defeated the Westerly Bulldogs in game three of the Preliminary Round series, 5-1, to advance in the Rhode Island Connie Mack State Tournament.

In game one of their quarterfinal series with Cranston, Chariho’s John Pelligrino threw a complete game surrendering only one run to pick up a 4-1 victory.

Down 1-0, Chariho scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning on big hits by Liam Flynn, Justin Giles, Brendan McGovern, and Jack Kesner.

In game two of their best of three series against Tiverton, the Bulldogs of Cranston broke open a close game in the top of the fifth inning with four runs.

Providing the key hit were John Rodriguez (2-run single) and Nathan Lopes (2-run double).

Anthony Decotis picked up the win by holding the Tigers scoreless over the last three innings.
