2004 Softball Tournaments concluded in Winchendon with State finals Congratulations to Jesse Burkett (Worcester) on capturing the State title with wins in the Major & Junior divisions and to Westfield for winning the Senior State title. See Tournaments section at left for brackets and results.

Mansfield Little League becomes first Massachusetts team to advance to the Junior League World Series After winning the Massachusetts state championship, Mansfield went 5-0 in the rain-filled, 11-team Eastern Regional Tournament played in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. Team Massachusetts defeated Cranston, Rhode Island, 9-0, for the regional title. Along the way, Mansfield defeated state champions from Connecticut, New York, Maine and Rhode Island (twice). Massachusetts went to Taylor, Michigan undefeated with a 13-0 overall record. History: No team from Massachusetts has ever played in the Junior League World Series. Massachusetts became the 26th state to be represented in the series. For the record: Two Eastern champions have won the Junior League World Series. Waldorf, Maryland, went undefeated in 1985. and Salem, New Hampshire, went undefeated in 1997.

What is the Little League Challenger Program?
The Little League Challenger Program is Little League’s adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and developmental challenges.

Who can participate in the Little League Challenger Program?
Any individual with a physical or intellectual challenge may participate. If an individual can participate in the traditional Little League Baseball or Softball program with reasonable accommodations they should do so. The Little League Challenger Division accommodates players ages 4-18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in school. The Senior League Challenger Division accommodates players ages 15 and above (no maximum age).

 
The following Massachusetts leagues currently host a Challenger program

Andover, Belchertown,  Berlin, Billerica,  Braintree,  Chicopee(Sunshine Village), Danvers, Hanover, Lancaster, Leominster,  Lexington, Lynn,  Lynnfield, Malden, Middleboro,  Millbury, Milton, North Andover, North Reading,  Northboro, Norwood,  Peabody,  Pine Hill,  Savin Hill, Saugus, Sudbury, Swampscott, Swansea,  Tewksbury,  Wakefield,  Watertown, West Lynn, Weston,  Winthrop, Woburn,  Worcester

Red Sox hosted "A Father's Day Walk in the Park" presented by Bank of America at Fenway Park On Sunday, June 18th, the Boston Red Sox once again invited families to celebrate Father's Day at the legendary home of Champions, Fenway Park. And Bank of America invited the families of Little League of Massachusetts to feel the "power of the park" as our special guests! Families were escorted into the park and given a soft ball as a gift from the team. In addition to playing catch, families had the opportunity to walk around the warning track, visit the dugouts, pose against the Green Monster, and get a close looks at the bullpens. The Red Sox provided games, contests, and activities for the kids. Check out the photo section to the left for some pictures from the day...
The Little League "Gear Up For Summer" Program... Little League has joined with the Massachusetts Melanoma Foundation to help raise awareness of this skin cancer. The following is a link where you can obtain your free sunscreen and learn more about this program. Register for free sunscreen
Baseball State Finals wrap up... - 10-11 yr old Final, Barnstable American wins their second straight game by a run edging Braintree American, 3-2 to capture the 10-11 State Championship. - Major Baseball final, Peabody West outduels Barnstable National 6-5 for the Major Baseball State Championship. Peabody now advances to the Eastern Regionals. - It took 8 innings for Canton to take the Junior Baseball State crown with a 4-3 win over Gloucester. Gloucester's only 2 losses in the tournament were to Canton. - Auburn bounces back with 4-2 win over Rockland for the Senior Baseball State title. Busy day of games on Saturday... Major & 10-11 year old Baseball State finals in Oxford... In completing their game halted by rain Friday night, Barnstable National edged Westfield North 2-0 Saturday morning. Peabody West then defeated Walpole American 7-2 in the afternoon. Barnstable National advances over Walpole American 5-1 in the late game and will face off with Peabody West Sunday at 4:00pm. 10-11 yr old Final, Barnstable American nips Braintree American 1-0 to force deciding game Sunday 4:00 in Oxford. Junior & Senior Baseball State Finals in Rockland... Canton will face Gloucester for the Junior division title Sunday at 2:00. Rockland forces 'if' game against Auburn in Senior Baseball with a 4-2 win. Deciding game is set for Sunday 5:45.
Baseball State Finals under way... Major Baseball State finals kick off Thursday July 27 with Opening ceremonies beginning at 2pm in Oxford. 10-11 State final down to Braintree American and Barnstable American. Senior finals set with Auburn and Rockland while Canton will face Gloucester for the Junior division title. Bracket schedules for Section and State levels available via Tournaments link to the left.
Softball State Finals wrap up... Jesse Burkett LL of Worcester not only hosted this years State Finals but made it a clean sweep capturing the State title for the Major, Junior and Senior divisons facing tough competition of Lynn Wyoma, Swampscott and Dudley repectively. Congratulations to all participants of the tournament.
