ROY M. GREEN
MISSOURI BASKETBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION
HALL OF FAME MEMBER

Played high school basketball at Camdenton High
and continued his playing career at Missouri State.
Head Basketball Coach at Willow Springs and Miller.
He spent time in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
Returned to coaching as Glendale Freshmen leader
('71-'79) and then moved up to the Junior Varsity
position from 1979-1983, going 69-11 overall and
winning four consecutive J.V. Tournament titles.

He took over head coaching duties at Glendale
with Coach Ed Baker, when Jack Roberts fell off a
ladder while hanging a banner titled 'Welcome' for
the visiting teams coming to the annual Glendale
Holiday Tournament. Coach Roberts broke his hip
and arm thus missing the entire season, but did
attend the Regional Semifinal contest against
Kickapoo with his wife. Coach Green and Coach
Baker led the Falcons for the rest of the '77-'78
season. Except for a regular season game against
Parkview, which Coach Baker missed due to being
ill. Also, Coach Baker missed the post-season games
when one afternoon before the regional playoffs he
went to visit Coach Roberts at his home near
Glendale, only to hit his head falling on some ice
while on his way. Coach Baker had to deal with
some temporary memory loss and was forced to
sit out the rest of the season. Coach Green led the
Falcons through the post-season as Glendale lost
to St. Louis DeSmet Spartans in the state
quarterfinals. DeSmet had won 25 consecutive
games going into the battle with Glendale and
went on to win the Class 4-A State Title with a
31-1 record.
