DESPITE CONTROVERSY, PHOENIX CHRISTIAN STILL IMPRESSIVE AT REGIONALS

COUGARS WIN BOYS AND GIRLS HIGH HURDLES, BOYS HIGH & LONG JUMPS Despite fielding a much smaller team than in recent years, Phoenix Christian's boys and girls track teams still made a strong showing at the 2006 metro region track & field championships. Five cougars were crowned region champs as Demitrius Lavant won the long jump, Micah Kuiper won the high jump, Megan VanHofwegen the 100, Domonique the 100 meter hurdles and Matt Kredit the 110 meter hurdles. Both Domonique and Megan finished in the top four in the 200, Megan was second in the 400. Freshman Bianca Marchand was 3rd in the low hurdles and Kuiper placed 4th in the triple jump. Other top 10 performers were Adam Watkins and Raheem Calvin in the long jump, Lavant & Rocky Gingg in the discus, Gingg in the shot put, the girls 4x400 relay, Thyse Vanhofwegen in the 800, Kredit and Danny Lazerri in the 100 and 200 meter dashes and the boys 4x800 meter relay.
