To make it more time efficient for all families, tryout time slots will be assigned for each player and sent to the player’s contact email during the evening of October 27th.  Players only need to attend during their assigned timeslot.

Rosters
Team rosters will be announced in mid-November.

Player Commitment
The bulk of the Spring/Summer season will take place between March and July, but teams will have winter training and possible tournament play.  As we are still finalizing plans, more team specific information related to key dates and player commitment will be provided at the tryouts.  Typical player time commitment is as follows:

  • Off-season training typically includes some type of workout / practice 1-2 days per week (January through March).
  • A typical schedule for Spring / Summer games is 5 weekend tournaments (1 in April, 1 in May, 3 over June/July) and 10 league games (two games per week from mid-June to mid-July).

Villagers Fees
Costs will vary by team, depending on the type, location and number of winter workouts and tournaments, but player fees will fall somewhere in the following ranges:

  • Off-season training and possible tournaments (Jan-March)        $150-$300 per player
  • Spring/Summer league and tournament season (April-July)        $250-$300 per player
  • NOTE:  The above fees do not include uniform fees.  Also, all age divisions may play in one or two “long distance” tournaments (i.e., locations further than an easy back and forth daily commute), with any costs related to travel and overnight accommodations being additional.

Contact the MSO Softball Committee for more information on the Summer Villagers tryouts.
