First, a sincere thank you to all the boys who came out over the last three days and gave an inspired effort at tryouts. I told the boys on Tuesday that this is both my favorite and least-favorite time of year – making the roster decisions is never easy for me because we have so many talented players, who also happen to be good kids and fun to be around. The process is tough for me personally, too, as I do not take the responsibility lightly. In the end, these roster decisions are based on our ability to put the team on the field that gives us the best chance for success, with the best mix of offense (including speed and base running), defense, and pitching we can get. There were some very close decisions and I expect some will second-guess here and there. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this, I hope you will call or email me directly.
