Wickford 8/9B Dunkin' Donuts vs. EWG3

Wickford B 8/9 – Wickford Dunkin Donuts playoff game #1 results:  
Wickford loses heartbreaker in bottom of the 6th .The Wickford Dunkin Donuts played a solid EWG 3 team to the very end. EWG 3 jumped out to a first inning 5-2 lead with 5 hits. Wickford’s pitching and defense tightened up, holding EWG scoreless until the bottom of the 6th. Wickford’s lead-off hitter, Jack Perreault, started the scoring in the 1st, after the first of his two hits. An RBI by Andrew Coyne gave Wickford an early 2-0 lead. Wickford scored 2 more times in the top of the 2nd when Nick Sacchetti and Bobby O’Neill crossed the plate after some aggressive base-running. Ben Haberman played an impressive defensive and offensive game with an RBI single in the second inning. The score remained 5-4 until the top of the 6th when Geoffrey Coyne and Jack Perreault scored, giving Wickford its second lead of the game. Wickford’s pitcher Mason Walsh held EWG scoreless over 3 innings with no hits allowed. EWG scored two in the bottom of the sixth for a walk-off win.   
Wickford B 8/9 (Dunkin Donuts) plays EG1 at Warwick National at 6:00 on Monday, Oct. 12th.

Wickford 10/11A Wickford 1 vs. SK American

Fall Ball 10/11A Division
Wickford1 - 9,  SK American - 4
In the 10/11A Division, Wickford1 beat the previously undefeated SK American, 9 - 4, in the first round of the playoffs.  Led by the pitching of Brian Farrell, who gave up 2 runs over the first 4 innings, followed by Adam Beliveau, who closed the final 2 innings, also giving up only 2 runs, Wickford1 put together a total team effort in the win.  Andrew Sarazen had 2 hits, scored a run and played stellar defense at second base while Brian Farrell also had a single, double and scored 3 runs.  Tyler Carter was a stalwart at catcher and was on base 3 times with 3 walks, scoring 2 runs from the leadoff postion.  Jake Brogno was solid at shortstop and was on base twice with 2 walks and a run scored.  Chad Beliveau had a long double to deep left field that drove in 2 insurance runs in the top of the 6th inning to put the game away.  Also contributing hits were Matt Van Dyne, Cam Lamarre, Bruce Coppola, and Dylan Silverstein.
Wickford1 will play next on Wednesday, 10/14, at 6pm, at Wilson Park vs SK National who had a bye in the first round.

Wickford 10/11A Jitter's Cafe vs. East Greenwich

Jitter's Cafe, one of 2 Wickford 10/11A teams lost to East Greenwich on 10/ 10 by a 4-2 score. Wickford, behind 2-0 came back to tie the game in the 3rd after clutch hitting by Chris Guenev, Matt Boelter and Liam Darcy.
Patrick Maybach pitched well for 4 innings before leaving due to the 4 inning max pitch rule. East Greenwich played solid defense giving up  no extra outs to Wickford throughout the 6 innings. Zack Lynch had the 4th Wickford hit in what was a disappointing offenseive showing for Wickford which now drops into the losers backet. Next game is Sat. 3pm with a location to be determined during the coming week.
