Wickford B 8/9 – Wickford Dunkin Donuts playoff game #1 results:
Wickford loses heartbreaker in bottom of the 6th .The Wickford Dunkin Donuts played a solid EWG 3 team to the very end. EWG 3 jumped out to a first inning 5-2 lead with 5 hits. Wickford’s pitching and defense tightened up, holding EWG scoreless until the bottom of the 6th. Wickford’s lead-off hitter, Jack Perreault, started the scoring in the 1st, after the first of his two hits. An RBI by Andrew Coyne gave Wickford an early 2-0 lead. Wickford scored 2 more times in the top of the 2nd when Nick Sacchetti and Bobby O’Neill crossed the plate after some aggressive base-running. Ben Haberman played an impressive defensive and offensive game with an RBI single in the second inning. The score remained 5-4 until the top of the 6th when Geoffrey Coyne and Jack Perreault scored, giving Wickford its second lead of the game. Wickford’s pitcher Mason Walsh held EWG scoreless over 3 innings with no hits allowed. EWG scored two in the bottom of the sixth for a walk-off win.
