Wickford beats Warwick American 2-0.
The Wickford 11-12 yr old district team won a nail biter last night on a walk off 2 run home run by Timmy Lynch. Cam Moniz led off the 6th inning with a well earned walk after being down 0-2 in the count, and Timmy crushed the 1st pitch he saw over the right/center field fence to end the game. Not to go unrecognized was Chris Lenox’s no-hitter. Chris was amazing all night allowing a mere walk the entire 6 innings. The Warwick American pitcher allowed only two other hits besides Timmy’s HR. Ryan Gwaltney smashed a double in the 5th, and Casey Farrell had a 2nd inning infield single. Josh Moniz dropped a beautiful sacrifice bunt in the 5th but was called out on a controversial call when the home plate umpire overruled the field umpires call. (it turns out the umpires were married to each other……..)
The next game is tonight at 7:30PM at Central Coventry.
