Description: Wickford started off the Narragansett 11/12 Friendship tournament on a high note.  The bats came alive early as Wickford put up 12 runs in the first inning.   In that inning, every player reached base in their first at bat.  The big hits in the first inning were Stephen Maybach’s grand slam and Matthew Viens’ 3-run home run.  The hits continued for the remainder of the game as Wickford scored at least two runs in each inning, with Nathan Mathews adding another grand slam home run in the 3rd inning, this one an inside-the-park home run.  In a total team effort, every player scored at least one run.   On the mound, Nick Gartland and Patrick Maybach combined for a one hitter and allowed only 3 base runners.  The Wickford defense supported them beautifully making no errors in the 4 inning outing.

Wickford’s next game is on Tuesday, 21 July at 5 PM.  They will play East Greenwich at Sprague Field in Narragansett.
