Pinto: Tuesday, May 22, 2012Phillies 13 vs Cardinals 17 Having mysteriously made their way down to the lower half of the bracket (against all odds), the Cardinals battled the Phillies in their fight for life. Touted by some as the best Rookie pitcher, Coach Howlett's boys only struck out twice, and Laake Farlow went yard for his first of the year. Despite the Cardinals intimidating offense, the Phillies were able to hold the highest scoring team of the season to 17 runs. Unfortunately, it was 5 runs shy of continuing the season. Rangers 15 vs Mets 7 Coach Bolling and his Rangers are giving everyone something to worry about. With 2 wins and a loss against the #1 seeded Red Sox the Rangers continued their roll through the tournament by ousting the #4 seeded Mets. Tied going into the 5th inning, the Mets were unable to get 3 outs, allowing the Rangers to 5-run one of the strongest defenses in the league. The Rangers are now 3 and 1 for the tournament waiting to pounce on the loser of the Cubs and Orioles matchup on Thursday night. (The dramatic irony: this was written on Friday morning.) |
