BIG Fun Had By All At `07 League Carnival

Posted by David Yackovich at May 13, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The 2007 RWLL carnival was a huge success over past years. Through the dedication of many of the RWLL board members and league volunteers, this years carnival outdid them all. With the usual booths in operation we also had a robust raffle with some great prizes donated through community support...without them we couldn't have done it. The baskets that the t-ball teams put together were nothing short of fantastic. I personally put in $20.00 on those in tickets, but came up short. Maybe next year! The 1st annual hit-a-thon turned up nearly 220 kids from the t-ball thru major divisions. There were some pretty fantastic prizes awarded for the hit-a-thon with iPods, $100, $50, and $25 gift certificates awarded to individuals based on total distance achieved during the event. Our grand prize was a Nintendo Wii and was awarded to the player with the most money raised for the hit-a-thon. To see pictures of the hit-a-thon winners here. The success of the carnival is but a small piece of the puzzle in our quest to rebuild the grandstands as they were. We raised over $11,000 for the weekend but this is just a small portion of what is needed to build it back right. Many of you already know that we are hosting a fireworks booth this year that is to be located at the Bel-Air shopping center on the corner of Main St. & Foothills Blvd. Please tell all your friends and family members to come and support the league and purchase your fireworks from us. We are also doing a pre-sell of fireworks and you can purchase tickets at the Snack Shack. If you haven't volunteered for a spot at the fireworks booth and would like to work a 6 hr shift please contact Jacquie Tucker for scheduling options.

The shift of this area to Roseville West LL was due to Woodcreek LL being required by Little League headquarters to reduce their numbers this year. To avoid the league split, Woodcreek LL conceded this area to keep their league numbers within Little League guidelines. If you are a returning Major league or above player, you are not required to play with Roseville West LL, rather you can apply for a 2D waiver to continue your play with Woodcreek LL. Also, the siblings of such players are not required to play with Roseville West LL and may be 2D wavered into Woodcreek LL as well.

Roseville West has gone hi-tech! On-line registration is being offered this year as a convenient new service to our baseball families. The registration process is the same as registering in person, but offers you the flexibility to do it at your convenience. We will still need to verify your residence and age information pursuant to Little League baseball rules and we will be collection this information during one of the tryout sessions or at a date and location to be named later. We look forward to the new season and hope all our little league players do the same.
