NC Times - PREP SOFTBALL: Another no-hitter for Torrey Pines
BY NORTH COUNTY TIMES | Posted: Thursday, May 13, 2010 | |
Lauren Hynes matched her Torrey Pines High teammate Rachel Nasland with a no-hitter of her own Thursday in a 7-0 softball victory over Fallbrook. Hynes and Nasland threw no-hitters in back-to-back games this week. Only one runner reached base against Hynes, a sophomore, who walked Fallbrook No. 3 hitter Kylie Drew on a 3-2 pitch in the first inning. Nasland, a freshman, walked the No. 3 hitter on a 3-2 pitch in the first inning of Tuesday's 6-0 win over Mission Hills. "Years ago, Erin Snyder had five no-hitters during league play, so we may have had back-to-back no-hitters by the same pitcher, but never by two different ones,' Torrey Pines coach Jon Moore said. Moore said the final two outs Thursday were the hardest-hit balls of the game -- line drives to second base and then to left field to end the gem. Hynes (7-0) was also 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in three runs. She struck out seven. Nasland, who struck out 16 in her no-hitter to improve to 11-2, will try to make it three consecutive no-hitters on Monday when the Falcons visit San Pasqual. |
