All Stars 9/10 Year Olds - District 62 Champions

7/6/13 – OVLL 12 v. Huntington Valley 11

Saturday’s game between Ocean View and Huntington Valley's 10 year old All-Star teams was a nail bitter.  Huntington Valley jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a 2-run homer.  Ocean View put up two runs of its own in the first with an RBI double by Micah Blake and an RBI single by Luca Pantel.  In the second, Ocean View scored on an RBI double by Jake D'Amico, plating Nick Madole.

OVLL went up for good in the fifth scoring two runs, which came home on a groundout hit by Mathew Wilson.  Pitchers had to battle it out as the two teams put up 23 runs combined. Strong performance on the mound from closer Nick Shankmen helped seal the game. Ocean View finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fifth inning. A single by AJ Valle brought home Jake D'Amico.  D'Amico racked up three RBIs on three hits.  He doubled in the second inning, homered in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning.  OVLL wins 12 to 11.

Ocean View Little League took the District 62 title and moves on to sectionals next Saturday, 7/13/13, which take place at Ocean View Little fields.

All Stars 8/9 Year Olds - District 62 Champions

7/6/13 - OVLL 10 v. Robinwood 0

AJ Hurtado had a good day on the bump and at the dish.  He racked up three RBIs on a homerun hit in the first inning.  Robinwood managed just one hit off of Hurtado who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out eight during his four innings of work.

Ocean View scored seven runs in three innings and walked off with the win on Saturday.  Big bats prevailed on hits by Jimmy Legg, Sam Cohn, Chad Lux, Daniel Kotkosky, Jack Rockefeller, Evan Knipe, Kai Mullens, and Riley Reece.  Antonio Ventimiglia hit his second homerun of the series adding two runs to the scoreboard.

Ocean View tacked on another five runs in the fourth. A hit into a fielder's choice scored Riley Reece to start it back up for Ocean View. That was followed up by Jimmy Legg's single bringing Hurtado home.   OVLL moves on to play District 55 for their first sectional game on 7/13 at Ocean View Little League fields.
