Posted by Bill Church on May 23 2012 at 05:00PM PDT

A.J. Hurtado beat out an infield single to bring home Gavin Kells for the walk-off victory as the Lookouts kept their season alive with a two-run rally in the sixth.

The win came one day after the Lookouts made up a seven-run deficit, only to lose in extra innings to the Mudcats, 9-8.

Against the Mets, the Lookouts trailed, 9-8, going into the their final at-bat. Logan Ronchi walked to open the sixth inning and eventually scored on an errant throw to tie it. Kells coaxed a two-out walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and stole third, setting up Hurtado’s heroics. Hurtado finished with three hits.

Joey Gentilella (3-for-3) slugged a two-run, opposite-field homer in the fifth to help the Mets build an 8-4 lead. Antonio Ventimiglia delivered two hits for the Mets, including a booming double. Defensively, Mets shortstop Miles Elliott made a pair of lunging catches on line drives to shut down Lookout rallies.

The Lookouts tied it with a four-run rally in the bottom of the fifth, highlighted by Kells’ RBI double. Brandon Wood dashed home with the tying run on a wild pitch.

In his first starting assignment,  Lookouts pitcher Isaac Ballinas turned in a solid 2-2/3 innings, while Ethan Choi got the victory in relief.

David Drigla scored twice and made a sparkling catch in right field for the Lookouts (12-5-1 overall).
