Umpire Fast Start Basic Field Mechanics Training (UFS-101)
Offered for all new adult umpires or adults that want to refresh their field mechanics (highly recommended).
Feb. 9 Huntington Valley LL 8 a.m. - Noon
Feb. 9 Costa Mesa American LL 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Feb. 10 Robinwood LL 8 a.m. - Noon
Feb. 24 Ocean View LL 8 a.m. - Noon
NOTE: The Feb. 13 Intro to Rules training is highly recommended for all new adult umpires (see below)
JUNIOR UMPIRE TRAINING (12-18 yrs)
NOTE: All Junior umpires must complete Field Mechanics Full Day training at least once, in order to umpire at OVLL. The Feb. 23 Junior Rules Training is optional, but highly recommended. Junior umpires are welcome and encouraged to take these training courses more than once.
JUNIOR UMPIRE RULES TRAINING (Optional but recommended)
Feb. 23 Old World Village, Main Hall (see address below) Noon - 4 p.m.
JUNIOR UMPIRE FIELD MECHANICS FULL DAY TRAINING (Mandatory to be completed at least once)
Feb. 24 Ocean View LL 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 a.m.
ADDITIONAL TRAINING UMPIRE FIELD MECHANICS TRAINING, One class offered twice (FMT-200). Offered as an optional training course for additional training or for Distrct 62 Certification
Feb. 16 Costa Mesa National LL 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Mar. 3 Sea View LL 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
ADVANCED FIELD MECHANICS TRAINING (AFM-210) Advanced skills training. Required for District 62 Certification
Feb. 21 Fountain Valley LL (Field 13 & 14) 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. (under the lights)
RULES TRAINING (Discuss the Little League Official Playing Rules) Held at Old World Village (7561 Center Ave, HB) in the Main Hall
Feb. 13 Intro to Rules & Rule 9, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Feb. 20 Session Two 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Feb. 27 Session Three 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Mar. 6 Session Four 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Mar. 13 Session Five 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Mar. 20 Session Six 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
NOTE: Junior candidates below age 12 need approval from Jim St.Pierre, Umpire in Chief, to attend training. Juniors (12-17 years) wishing to take adult umpire courses need approval from Jim St.Pierre.
DISTRICT 62 CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (required to umpire Major games and tournament games). Must complete the following:
Fast Start or Junior Field Training
Umpire Field Mechanics (one day)
All Rules Training
Advanced Training
Mentored during a Major's game as a plate umpire and base umpire
Complete one observation game from a District 62 staff umpire
