All Stars - 9/10 Year Olds

7/14/13 - Ocean View 9 v. Rancho Santa Margarita 2

Ocean View 10 Year Olds still hot from their win Saturday against Aliso Viejo, once again jump to an early lead scoring two in the first inning from an RBI single from Luca Pantel and an overthrow allowing Nick Shenkman to steal home.  Cole Kaplan takes the mound for Ocean View.  Rancho Santa Margarita comes out swinging with a hit to right field.  Kaplan strikes out the next batter and strong defense from short stop Tristan Kennedy makes the next two outs.  Ocean View is able to score another run in the third. Nate Skorheim singles and Parker Walpole makes it home on an error by Rancho Santa Margarita.   Bottom of the second goes quickly with strong defense again from Tristan Kennedy and Nick Madole and a strike out from pitcher Cole Kaplan.  Third inning, AJ Valle and Nick Madole both walk.  A double from Kennedy scores them both.  Nate Skorheim RBI singles bringing the score up to 6-0 Ocean View.  Bottom of the third, Kaplan still hot on the mound strikes out two of the four batters keeping them scoreless.   Action begins again in the fourth inning as Jake D'Amico doubles.  AJ Valle RBI singles. Nick Skorheim makes it to first on a dropped fly and once again Tristan Kennedy RBI doubles.  Ocean View now up by 9 as Rancho Santa Margarita begins to rally scoring two runs off two singles and a double but strong defense from Kai Marden and Madole and solid pitching from relief pitcher Nick Shenkmen keep them from scoring again.  It was a good day for Kennedy who racked up four RBIs.  Great performance on the mound from Kaplan, with four strike outs in three innings. Ocean view takes the victory after six innings.
