The Almaden Redwings and the Almaden Storm matched up once again this season in round two of the District TOC tournament on Monday. The first two meetings went to the Storm in close, hard fought battles and this contest would be no different.
The Redwings put six on the board through four innings and the Storm could manage nothing through any of the first four frames. Then, in typical Storm fashion, the boys in black broke through with one run in the fifth and three more in the sixth while blanking the wings in each of their half innings.
With the score 6-4 Redwings going to the top of the seventh, the Storm managed two more to tie the game and send it to the bottom of the seventh. The first Wings batter drew a walk and the Storm defense worked the game into a two out situation with a runner on third. Pitcher of the moment Doug Frazier coaxed a ground ball on the infield but the handle proved elusive and the runner scored from third to end the game.
The Storm go again Wednesday at Ida Price with their backs against the wall.
