SIGN UP FOR 2 SNACK SHACK SHIFTS NOW TO EARN YOUR $40 SNACK SHACK REFUND

Posted by Tanya Sullivan on Apr 20 2007 at 05:00PM PDT
Parents have been asking how they can sign up to work their snack shack shifts and earn their refund.  Team moms have been circulating a schedule for several weeks, but if it hasn’t found it’s way to you yet, here’s another way to sign up.  Following are open dates that we need to fill.  Please find two that work with your schedule and email your name, phone number, and shifts you would like to PALL Volunteer Coordinator Kelly Bruihl.  She will shoot back a quick confirmation if that date is still open.  You might consider also providing some alternative dates to speed the process. These shifts will be “first come, first served”.  Upon completion of two complete, scheduled shifts we will mail a Snack Shack Refund Check to you.  More info about snack shack volunteer responsibilities and why this role is so important follows the list of available dates. It takes a lot of time to heat the cheese and chili, thus the start times that are much earlier than the game times.

What do Snack Shack Volunteers Do?
The teens have most of the responsibilities covered so this is an easy way to support the League. There is even a nice window in the wall giving you a rare “Home Plate” perspective on the game!  Volunteers keep a casual eye on things in the Minor Snack Shack to ensure that the teen workers are doing their jobs safely (lots of hot cheese and drinks in there).  This can be done from the doorway so you can keep an eye on your child’s game while working your shift. During peak times, the teens may ask you to help sell drinks or candy from a very simple menu. Finally, there are checklists on the refrigerator and we appreciate your help with any of those tasks or simply reminding the teens to complete them all.  The Teens became a fan for life of one mom who offered to wash the cheese pots for them… extra Karma points to her and her team… but definitely NOT a requirement!  If a game you sign up for is rescheduled, your shift will roll forward to a new date and we will work with your schedule if the new date isn’t a good fit.

Just a quick reminder about why Snack Shack Shifts are important.
The Minor Field Snack Shack is conveniently located for families watching games on our minor fields.  It’s also a major source of revenue for the League so we can continue to improve Middle and Kenneally Fields. The new Kenneally dugouts and scoreboard and the renovation of the Middle Infield are just a few examples of your snack shack revenue at work. An adult must be present to supervise the teens working in the Minor Snack Shack as we serve hot food and drinks.  Without volunteers filling that role, we will have to close the Minor Snack Shackwhich means a longer walk for Ball Park goodies and less revenue for field improvements.  There is a misconception that adult volunteers take a job away from a teen worker, but in fact, the opposite is true.

So… start thinking about how you’ll spend that $40 (or more if you have additional players) and snag your shifts now!  Thanks for your support.
