 Semi-Finals

  8:30 AM ~ New Trier Trevians vs Prairie Ridge Wolves - Illinois 

  8:45 AM ~ Holy Ghost Prep Firebirds vs Hamilton SE Royals - Indiana

Prairie Ridge

3 Culver Academy 1
Prairie Ridge advances to the Final 4 by defeating Culver Acadmy 3-1. Chris Dallas scores twice and goaltender Corey Simmons stops 28 of out of 29 shots for the Wolves.

Mt Lebanon

2 Providence Catholic 3
Providence Catholic scores three times in the 3rd period to defeat Mt Lebanon 4-2. Ralph Vennetti scores the game winner with 5:56 left in the final period.

Hamilton SE

3 Glenbrook North 0

Hamilton Southeastern advanced the the final 4 for the 2nd consecutive year with a 3-0 win over Glenbrook North. Mike Myers scored the game’s opening two goals and Grant Davis stopped all 24 shots to earn the shutout for the Royals.

Upper St Clair

2 Malvern Prep 3

In a rematch of the 1987 and 1990 Pennsylvania AAA State Final, Malvern Prep turned back Upper St Clair 3-2. Patrick Schramm scored the game winner with 9:07 remaining in the 3rd period.

 

Fenwick

2 Holy Ghost Prep 3

Holy Ghost Prep advanced to the Medal Round for the very first time with a nailbitter over last year’s Finalist Fenwick 3-2. Brendan Bradley scored two goals and assisted on John Motto’s opening goal. Fenwick trailed 3-1, but Aiden Verbeke’s goal with :38 to go cut the lead to one and the Friars nearly tied the game at the buzzer.

 

North Broward Prep

2 McDowell 5

McDowell picked up its first win of the NISS tournament with a 5-2 win over North Broward Prep. Jeff Clark and Ryan Guzek each score two goals for the Trojans.

 

Peters Twp

1 New Trier Green 7

Defending Governor’s Cup champions New Trier Green advanced to the Medal Round for the 4th consecutive year with a 7-1 victory over Peters Twp. Mark Harris and Greg Smart scored two goals each and Alex Wetzel added a goal and 3 assists for the Trevians

 

DeMatha

0 Bethel Park 2

Bethel Park shuts out Dematha 2-0 as Blackhawk goaltender Austin McGinty stops 30 shots and Dylan Jones and Aaron Placke score for BP.

 

Providence Catholic

3 Prairie Ridge 4 SO 3-2

Prairie Ridge and Providence battled to a 3-3 deadlock through regulation and overtime setting up a shootout. After both teams scored on 2 of the five attempts, the Wolves Mike Kurek won the Sudden Death shootout giving PR a 4-3 victory. Alexander Taulien scored a pair of goals for Prairie Ridge and Ralph Vennetti scored twice for Providence Catholic.

 

Mt Lebanon

0 Culver Academy 7

Culver moved toward a showdown for a spot in the Medal Round with Prairie Ridge with a 7-0 win over Mt Lebanon. Ryan Gandy scored twice and Michael Geiger added three assists for the Eagles of Culver.

  

Glenbrook North

1 Malvern Prep 3

Malvern Prep scores three times in the final 10 minutes to defeat Glenbrook North 3-1.

Tom Kane scores twice and James Law score for the Friars after Daniel Vietinghoff opens the scoring in the 2nd period for Glenbrook North.

 

Hamilton SE

4 Upper St Clair 3

Upper St Clair holds a 3-1 lead midway through third period, but Hamilton SE rallies for three goals in the final six minutes including the game tying tally with 21 seconds to go by Jake Miller and then the game winner with 13 seconds remaining from Rob Stein with his 2nd goal of the game. Brent Medoff has a goal and an assist for USC.

 

Bethel Park

1 Peters Twp 2 OT
Bethel Park holds a 2-1 lead over neighbor Peters Township at the end of 2 periods courtesy of goals from Jimmy Stitt and Michael Cure. Peters rallies to tie the game with just 9 seconds remaining as Ryan Tingle scores on a rebound and Cole Snyder wins it in overtime for the Indians 3-2.  

North Broward Prep

1 Holy Ghost Prep 5

Holy Ghost Prep scores four unanswered goals in the second period to knock off North Broward Prep 5-1. Brendan Bradley and Tommy Seravelli scored two goals each for the Firebirds.

 

McDowell

3 Fenwick 7

Fenwick opened up a 4-0 lead in the 2nd period and never looked back defeating McDowell 7-3. Ryan Fitzgerald led the way for the Friars with a pair of goals. Anthony Lecce scored twice for McDowell.

 

New Trier Green

7 DeMatha 1

New Trier Green continued its march to the Medal Round with a 7-1 win over DeMatha. Matthew Powell scored a pair of goals and added two assists and Mark Harris scored a pair for New Trier Green.

Friday December 4th  

 Holy Ghost Prep

9 McDowell 2

Holy Ghost Prep opened up a 5-0 lead after one period and cruised to a 9-2 win over McDowell. Thomas Seravelli scored three times and Brendan Bradley added a pair and five assists for the Friars, while John Motto had a 5-point game with 2 goals and 3 assists.

 

Prairie Ridge

4 Mt Lebanon 0

Prairie Ridge scored twice in the first and two more in the 3rd period to post a 4-0 victory over Mt Lebanon. Johnny Pottula scored twice for the Wolves and Alexander Taulien and Christopher Van Damme added goals for the Wolves as Cory Simmons earned the shutout.

 

Fenwick

5 North Broward Prep 4

Fenwick’s Matt Crook scores his 2nd goal of the game with 7:49 to play in the 3rd period to give the Friars a 5-4 win over North Broward Prep. Aidan Verbeke adds a goal and two assists in the contest. James Ross, Morgan Flood and Try Palczynski score for the Eagles from Florida.

 

New Trier Green

7 Bethel Park 0

Seven Different goal scorers for the defending Governor’s Cup champ Trevians tally as New Trier makes quick work of Bethel Park 7-0. Matt Hickey and Michael Vail have two assists for New Trier Green. 

 

Culver Academy

4 Providence Catholic 1

Culver Academy builds a 2-1 lead on the strength of two goals from P.J. Spano and ice the game with two shorthanded goals from Alex Haygood in the game’s final two minutes.

 

DeMatha

3 Peters Twp 4

Peter’s twp rallies from a 3-1 deficit as Cole Snyder scores his second goal shorthanded with 2:26 to play to give Peters Twp a 4-3 win over Dematha. Brian Kelly scores two for DeMatha.

 

Malvern Prep

3 Hamilton SE 5

Hamilton Southeastern builds a 4-0 lead and holds off a rally from Malvern Prep to win 5-3. Justin Short scores the hat trick and Jake Miller adds two goals for the Royals. Tom Kane, Thomas Lutza and Zachary Olah score for the Friars.

 

Upper St Clair

5 Glenbrook North 6 SO 4-2

The wildest and most exciting game was reserved for the final game Friday Night. With the teams trading goals through two periods tied at 3-3, Upper St Clair scored twice to take a 5-3 lead with 2:36 to go. Glenbrook North scored with 1:38 to go to cut the advantage to 5-4 on a goal by Eric Anderson. The Spartans were whistled for a penalty but defied the  odds as Jack Sandstrom scored with .008 seconds left on a terrific setup by  Adam and Matthew Vishny. The game went to a shootout and Glenbrook North won 4-2 as Daniel Vietinghoff, Thomas Washburn, Jack Day and Matthew Vishny scoed for the Spartans. James Kline and Justin Selep scored for USC in the Shootout.

 

 In the game regulation time, Glenbrook North’s Adam Vishny scored a hat trick and Matthew Vishny tallied four assists. James Kline and C.J. Murray had a pair of goals each for the Panthers and Justin Selep contributed three assists.
