Cubs Bats are Resurrected, Post 12-0 Win

Posted by Billy Daniel on Apr 27 2007 at 05:00PM PDT
After several games in the doldrums, Cubs' bats finally woke up this afternoon and the result was a 12-0, 4 inning win against the Orioles. Story of the game... a 12 run 4th inning explosion highlighted by Josh's home run blast over the right center field fence that keyed the win and transformed a heretofore scoreless contest into a Cubs' victory. Cubs' batters, given up for dead after the last several games, finally came to life in the 4th in which we sent 15 batters to the plate. 10 of the 11 Cubbies who played today, scored today and the game was called after 4 innings. Hits were numerous: Cabell had 2 singles, Marcus a single and a double, Will had a triple, Sam a double, Josh had the aforementioned home run, Miles a double, Vince a single and Robey a single. Two defensive standouts to note...Will pitched a 4 inning complete game victory, giving up 2 hits and 0 runs, issuing 2 walks. In the third, with 2 men on and 2 outs, Parker, despite a painful shot to the Achilles in his previous at bat, made a diving catch at second to squash the Orioles best chance at a rally and preserve our momentum going into the 4th. Next game is this Tuesday against the Royals.
